The aromatic nose has ripe peach nectar, passionfruit, grapefruit and gooseberry and a touch of tea rose. This delicious, textbook example of the St Aubin appellation is concentrated and offers good intensity of minerality and stone fruits. The wine begins with aromas of apple, wet stone, light baking spice/vanilla/toast notes. It is full bodied with notes of white pepper and flint joining apple and pear skin. Excellent quality, density and complexity to go with white meats, rich seafood and hearty vegetable casseroles.

Aromas of apple, pear, pear skin, anise, sweet citrus and musk greet you on the nose. The palate is medium to fuller in weight with orchard fruit, lemon and musk melon notes, nice density and a rounded texture. This clean, refreshing white finishes with a touch of lemon rind and salinity.

Aromas of nectarine, white peach and fresh orchard melange greet you in the glass. They're vibrant and bright and so is the wine on the palate. It's succulent, juicy and densely packed with yellow fruits with light notes of honey, herb and almond. The texture is creamy, supple and stays energetic at the same time. A wonderful wine for seafood and white meats. It can also take bold seasonings.

Alluring aromas of light lemon, lemon blossom, stone, wildflowers, and honey. Refreshing on the palate, with rounded acidity, lemon crud, white peach, apricot and apple fruit. This exciting wine balances mountain freshness and cut with ripeness. It is medium bodied with a longer finish.

This unoaked Chardonnay offers fresh flavors of pineapple and grilled peaches with nice acidity to keep the palate lifted. The texture is attractive with both freshness and a broad mouthfeel. It finishes with glazed citrus and sweet snap pea.

This is a delightful Burgundian Chardonnay. The nose gives subtle aromas of apples and apple skins, white flowers, old wood, and delicate orchard fruit. The palate offers minerality, focus and cut with crisp acidity and understated fruit. This medium weight wine is excellent with food or an apéritif.

Aromas of soft apple, bosc pear, flint and herbs. There's a touch of roundness in the texture, yet the wine stays juicy. Medium body, apple, pear, lemon zest, leesiness and a light creaminess. Tasty and food friendly!

This wine smells like new oak with mint, cinnamon and other spices with old leather notes. Between medium and full-bodied, this offering from Southeastern Spain is chock full of mulberries, cooked plums and raspberries with a sprinkling of cocoa. Baking spices and a hint of underbrush linger through the finish.

This wine is very well done but not big in style with plum, black cherry and red currant. The texture is clean, medium bodied and integrated. The finish delivers a pleasant amount of smoke.

Aromas of mulling spices and Moroccan souk spices combine with dark berries, tar and smoke to entice you to this Pinot Noir. It is between medium and full bodied with considerable concentration, yet it is not heavy. This delicious red opens with deep aromas of smoke, tobacco, raspberry and blackberry with chocolate and coffee. Plush flavors of blackberry, black cherry, and fruit leather lend a touch of cola sweetness that is a nice counterpoint to the soft, fine tannins.

Aromas are complex, with smoke, raspberry compote, red currant candy, chocolate, and spice. The palate offers a variety of red berry fruit, lightly cooked so it releases juice. Black cherry and cassis are also present, along with toast, baking spice, and mineral notes. The wine is medium to full bodied with moderate acid and youthful tannins that will meld with age.

Aromas of red and black cherry, spice and cocoa. On the palate notes of blackberries, black pepper, cherry and plums are supported by the fine tannins. This medium-plus body wine is elegant with a silky texture. 

This Tempranillo, Merlot, Garnacha blend is a serious wine, its black fruits (cherry and raspberry) bonding with graphite, iron, dark earth, and chocolate aromas. The palate is medium bodied; its concentration and complexity emerge with exposure to air. It finishes with a touch of forest floor and smoke framed by food-friendly tannins.

Dark cherry, cola, and spice aromas entice on the nose. The palate is warming with more dark fruits, chocolate-covered raisins and touches of campfire and pepper. Velvety tannins support the spicy finish of this fuller-bodied wine.

Aromas of stewed and fresh blackberries, red and purple flowers, vanilla, black pepper and minerality greet you on the nose. This is medium to fuller bodied with fresh blackberry, black cap raspberry, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco and graphite. Lifting acidity and integrated acidity make this a wonderful food wine.

Complex aromas of dark cherry, plum, forest floor, cured meat, chalk and flowers. The palate is refreshing with blueberry, acai berries, red cherry, plum and cigar box flavors. Its tannins are soft and integrated with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg on the refreshing finish.

This wine is ruby red with purple highlights. Fresh and fruity, it is a perfect sipper and refreshing even in warmer weather (try it with a slight chill!). The nose shows red berry, blue fruit, and spice, while the palate is medium bodied with food-friendly acidity.

Earthy aromas include bramble, mineral, garrigue, smoke, berry coolis and plum.  The palate is medium-plus in body with nice ripeness but not too heavy or overoaked. This smells like an old underground cellar with still some tartness and violets. This wine would be an excellent gift or an alternative to a quality Cotes du Rhone.

Aromas are of red cherry, black cherry, plum, prune, rosemary and cinnamon. The palate gives complex flavors that include black cap raspberries and blackberries, along with cinnamon and cedar spice, Italian herbs, wood notes and a sweet smokiness. The finish in this delicious "baby Barolo" is long and structured.

A classically made dark fruited Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa power couple Andy Erickson and Annie Favia. The nose is incredibly complex with cassis, plum, cola nut, black cherry, black pepper, and espresso. In the mouth the wine is well balanced and combines the fruit further with dark chocolate integrated fine tannins. While delicious now, it will continue to evolve in the cellar and shine fully in 2 - 5 years!

The nose offers dried strawberries and cooked cherries with dried flowers and herbs. The medium-bodied palate is similar to the nose, with dried cranberries, cherries, and dried flowers. The texture is silky with very fine tannins; acidity is lifted. The wine is ripe but not overripe; it’s lightly savoury like an Italian wine but with New World fruit.

This unique wine that is 100% local Piedirosso variety is ruby red in color color with purple reflections, that smell like violets, wild flowers, spices, black pepper and flint. This well integrated wine is juicy, balanced and elegant on the palate, with a savory finish earth, tobacco and inky. The fruit that develops is black cherry and cassis with singed spices. This wine is unique and staff favorite.

Aromas include dried cherries, plum, blackberry, sandalwood, and baking spice. Medium-bodied and rustic with rich and ripe mulberry, dark cherry, and licorice on the palate. Tannins are velvety and offer lovely structure; touches of cocoa and spice linger on the finish.

Les Hérétiques is a rustic wine, speaking strongly of its terroir. The nose offers spice, cedar, and black cherry fruit, and touches of iron/earth. The tannins are quite present but well-integrated with more black cherries, spice and a lingering meaty quality.

This medium bodied Bordeaux has lovely minerality combined with plum fruit and black raspberry notes. The texture is finely tannined with fresh acidity lifting the flavors. There's good purity here, unadulterated by wood notes. This makes a great food partner for medium weight foods -- a red that can be enjoyed with white meats such as chicken and pork.

This cote du rhone presents aromas of smoke, dark fruit, and spice. Medium plus in body, with dark fruit, black currants, blackberries, dark chocolate, and wonderfully rounded tannins.

Ripe red fruits, mulling spices, and underbrush open on the nose. This medium-bodied wine is complex with round tannins and integrated acidity. Black cherry, black caps, and herbed raspberry jam segue into light notes of underbrush and bramble on the finish.

Don't let this light red fool you! It's flavorful and satisfying with attractive red cherry, mineral and underbrush notes. The wine is fresh and exhileratingly crisp. Enjoy with light to medium weight foods or if you want to cut through the fat on a richer meal like barbeque or steak.

This wine presents minerally, ripe raspberry and plum fruit with integrated acid, giving a seamless, beautiful texture that finishes with some youthful tannins. A lightly savory note threads through the wine, adding complexity. Our notes: Aromas are of plum, black cherry, earth and truffle. This is medium weight with black cherry, raspberry and plum fruit that's ripe, not tart. It is fresh with mostly pure fruit and a touch of cooked as well. There are hints of orange, cinnamon and chalk. Tannins are nicely rounded. From the producer: The beautiful deep ruby-violet colors of the Pinot Noir wine give way to aromas of very ripe red fruits (cherry, blackberry and raspberry). The nose is intense and well integrated, with aromas of cooked red fruits and roasted coffee beans. There are also hints of graphite and cinnamon. Very round and smooth on the attack, with tight tannins on the palate. In the mouth come flavors of smoke and prune. This wine is ready to drink, but could also be kept for some years.

This Beaujolais presents aromas of Earth and forest floor with plenty of dark fruits. The palette follows with a fresh minerality, dark cherries, and sleek acidity. The limestone terroir adds to this complex presentation of Gamay.

This fabulous Cabernet Franc exhibits everything we love about the variety: beautiful dark fruits, savory earth elements and fine, supple tannins. There's a light smokiness intertwined with mineral/iron notes amid plenty of plum, black cherry, blackberry fruit and juicy acidity to lift everything. The finish is persistent and complex.

This elegantly perfumed Pinot Noir is savory with nice density of flavor and color with a layers of flavors. One will find dry earth, violets, spiced plums, mulling spices and ripe cranberry. The texture is medium in weight with fine tannins and a fresh finish.

Pretty aromas of red fruit and flowers, think of red currants, pomegranates, red cherries and violets. It has medium weight on the plate with medium acidity. The flavors are similar to the nose with pomegranate dominating with additional dried herbs, lavender and raspberry.

This is a nice value with great texture and ripe balance with flavors of blackberry and black currants with a long finish. Vibrant, with a fresh core of cherry and cassis notes backed by anise, apple wood and garrigue hints through the finish. Nice underlying juiciness throughout. A very traditional Burgundy with an open body and loads of fruit to boot. The palette follows the nose with red and black cherries, tinges of earth, finishing with round tannins and the complexity that comes with age.

The nose is rich with concentrated black cherry, vanilla, baking spices, and blackberries. The body follows with loads of fruit and spice; for all the fruit, it is not too heavy, it has a pleasant medium weight.

Aromas of red berries, barrel smoke and fresh herbs are repeated in the mouth, joined by leather and pepper. The texture is wonderful! Tannins are rounded and supportive in this medium-plus bodied wine.

Aromas are big, smoky, and spicy with blackberry, dark chocolate, and a hint of licorice. The palate has a nice lift and acidity, with flavors that match the aromas, including the pepper and blackberry. Medium plus in body with a persistent finish. The wine spends a year in American and French oak, with a further four months in bottle.

Dark stewed fruit of  blackberry and black currant introduce the wine. Fresh, ripe, and lightly smoky black fruits are balanced with a nice backbone of medium-plus acidity and touches of earth. Raspberry and plum notes emerge with time. This is medium bodied and lifted, making it a flavorful summer red.

Very dark, dense, purple color. Aromas of dark plums, spice, saturated dark fruit (plum, black cherry, wild berry, mulberry). The palate is well structured with integrated tannins and fruit. There’s a somewhat rustic, animal quality here, along with spicy, almost peppery rich, ripe, firm, black berry/currant fruit and touches of leather. Not a shy wine, dense but not heavy, it is medium plus in body and length.

The nose and palate of this medium- to fuller-bodied wine are similar: Brandied fruit (blackberries, black cap raspberries, cherries), rose petal, grilled nuts, garrigue, and pepper. Medium in both acid and tannin, it is supple, fresh, and easy to drink.

Classic Pinot Noir characteristics are present in this midweight red. Red and black cherry, plum, earth, truffle and tea combine on the palate to give just-right balance of fruit and umami flavors. Since the wine is in screw cap, it will continue to evolve after being open for 30 minutes, becoming a little richer and more concentrated. The acidity and tannins are well-wrapped into this wine, making it a pleasure to drink alone or with many foods.

This is such an appealing wine with aromas darker fruit than the last vintage with black fruits (currants, boysenberry, and blueberry) with a touch of florality spring from the nose of unique Mediterranean grape. The wine is medium weight with red and purple fruits, plums, blueberries and rose petals. It is fresh, unique, appealing, fragrant, food-friendly, soft and accessible. The tannins are light to medium weight with crisp acidity.

Notes of stewed dark berries and graphite unfold from the glass. Round tannins balance nicely with medium acidity while rich, ripe dark berries mingle seamlessly on the palate with coffee and dark chocolate flavors. A deep and vibrant wine with an alluring cardinal color. Exuding earth, fresh flowers, and intensity, the wine is fantastically balanced between its acidity and smooth tannins. Dark fruits, herbal, and minerality all blend and lead to a long stunning finish.

This is a savory wine with structure and black fruit. There are tar-like earth aromas and floral notes with classic red cherry, raspberry and plum. The palate is not tart but has good cool-climate acidity; it is medium weight with medium-plus tannins. This has a gorgeous nose with sensual earth, red cherry and raspberry aromas. The wine is open and accessible now. This medium weight wine is elegant, delicate and graceful, with the red fruits repeating from the nose and ending in a long, mineral finish.

Aromas of Morello cherries, cherry candy, ripe strawberry, tomato leaf/tobacco, and plum. The fruit is backed up by an array of savory components--earth, white pepper, herb stems--in the mouth alongside Birch beer and cola notes. This wine is well made, medium across the textures and has hints of baking spice.

Aromas are slightly earthy with brambly blackberry, dusty cocoa, and chocolate covered raisin notes. Dense and well-integrate on the palate; flavors include black fruits supported by a touch of smoky earth and baking spice. Medium-plus in body with mocha lingering on the longer finish.

Medium aromas high toned raspberry and strawberry in addition to some white and black cracked peppercorns. The palate is clean and medium bodied with red cherry, pomegranate juice, plum, and cranberry. The secondary notes exist as touches of vanilla, light earth and some higher acid in comparison to the previous vintage with medium tannin structure.

Cool-climate Cabernet Franc that is unoaked. It was originally produced in a stainless steel tank #23 (T23) and remained in the Lamoreaux line-up as a classic expression of the region without the interplay of oak or oak tannins.

This wine is well crafted with interesting and lovely aromas. The nose starts out with a combination of blackberry, plum, earth, lovely mineral and baking spice. This is just over medium bodied with flavors that match the nose. Darker fruits especially, like wild black raspberry, plums and black cherry, mineral components, savory flavors, moderate and very fine tannins and juicy acidity that makes this wine supple. This would be right at home with sausage, duck or a combination like cassoulet, or simply by itself.

Aromas are lightly smoky with black fruits and savory herbs. This wine is just over medium bodied, offering flavors of black cherry, blackberry, tea, dried herbs, black pepper, and sandalwood—interesting and different

This is a rich black-fruited Monastrell with concentrated aromas of elderberry, black plum, cassis, and a touch of licorice. The palate offers blackberry pie and is almost port-like in richness, yet touches of tomato leaf and coffee linger on the longer finish.

This plush and saturated wine gives a range of purple fruits such as plums, black cap raspberries, cherries and mulberries. The fruit is joined with some baking spice, cinnamon, bramble and black tea. Structuring acidity provides framework for this medium-plus bodied wine. It ends with a cherry note on the finish.

Attractive red jam fruits are still dry in this Zinfandel-based wine which has nice purity and finesse, as well as velvety tannins. It has medium acidity or even more, giving it good balance. There's plenty of flavor here, including a little brambly note.

Earthy/iron aromas lead freeze-dried strawberry and persimmon notes. The palate is well-integrated with flavors echoing the aromas and touches of white pepper lingering on the juicy finish.

Medium aromatics offering fresh and dried herbs, cigar box, dates and dried cherries. The palate is medium bodied with very rounded but quite there tannins. Fruits are purple to black --cherries, plums, and black currant skin with light toast, earth and tobacco.

This is a powerful style of Bordeaux that also retains elegance and finesse. On the palate you will find rich ripe plum, raspberries, blackcurrant, ripe cherries, and showcasing subtle cedar notes, and baking spice. This is a delicious wine with integrated fruit and spice with a velvety texture and long finish. The palate showcases older oak, raspberry jam, leather and black pepper with a slight dark chocolate note.

From the Winemaker: "Sabbie di Sutta Cerasuolo di Vittoria has a lively cherry-red color and an intense aroma of red fruit and floral notes. Its smooth, full and harmonious taste pairs very well with many traditional Sicilian recipes and the typical flavors of the Mediterranean cuisine. This red wine is a blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato grapes grown on sandy soils in the Vittoria area, a corner of Sicily that smells like Africa, situated just a few miles from the southernmost tip of the Italian peninsula."

This aromatic, aged wine offers delicious and complex aromas of ripe black cap raspberries, plums, cassis, dark chocolate, espresso, woodsiness and earth. The palate gives some tertiary flavors of balsamic, fall fruit compote, prunes, espresso, black pepper, tobacco, forest floor, black trumpets, worn leather, and pastry crust; dusty tannins provide structure.

This is a very aromatic wine, with fresh dark cherries and plums and a touch of pepper and bark. In the mouth, this is juicy, fruity (raspberries, figs, plums), and well structured by round tannins. It is complex, with a touch of savory dried herbs and woodsy notes, hints of coffee and chocolate, and a great mouthfeel. It’s definitely food-oriented, though it is also pleasurable alone.

The 2019 Sinister Hand displays spicy, dark, and savory characteristics. The exuberant nose has raspberry aromas with a hint of vanilla, while the lively palate has a soft juicy texture and a well-balanced acidity. Chewy tannins, black cherry, and a hint of toasty French oak round out the vibrant finish.

This wine begins with aromas of flowers, potpourri, dates, and figs. In the mouth, these translate to flavors, joined by lavender and black cap raspberries. This medium- to fuller-bodied southern Italian red reflects its warm, Mediterranean roots.

Aromas of black cherry and cracked black pepper interlace with notes of old barrel and earth. The palate delivers raspberry, cherry, red plum and lingonberry with black pepper and cinnamon. This is medium-weight, juicy, bright and balanced with medium tannins. Pure and typical of the varietal, the wine continues with raspberry and some earth on the finish.

The nose presents cherries, cranberries, herbs, flowers, and coffee. The palate follows with herbs, black pepper, black cherries, and basil. This is definitely a cool weather wine, the body is medium structured and all around delicate.

This appassimento wine uses dried grapes to concentrate the flavors. It is soft and supple in texture with velvety tannins on a medium frame. Stewed black and red fruits are accompanied by light tobacco and spice and a touch of smoke. Notes of blackberry, black cherries, and dates follow through to spices and dried herbs on the finish.

This wine spends nine months in oak but we assume it is older oak because the aromas are fresh raspberry, red cherry and plum. The aromas are similar on the palate with additional fine tannins, integrated acid and balanced alcohol.

Attractive aromas of raspberry, red cherry, warm earth, potpourri and pressed rose are apparent on the nose. This is medium in body with juicy purple fruits such as blueberries and plums with some dehydrated floral, cedar, bay leaf and violet notes. There is a minerality as well. The wine is well structured with moderate tannins and fresh acidity, and becomes more aromatic with exposure to air. This is aged in 2/3 amphora and 1/3 used oak.

Aromas of smoke and spice, black olive and black cherry. The palate has a lovely texture deriving from fine tannins. Grapes, blackberries, and light spice as well as a hint of tapenade, make up the flavors.

You’ll find smoky aromas with black currant and black cherry fruit as well as some barrel notes. Less smoky in the mouth, this gives pure black cherry fruit along with light toast and minerality. Its medium weight with smooth tannins and great balance, showing both ripeness and some lifting, tart black fruits.

This lighter-bodied wine begins with a classic Pinot Noir nose—rose, cherry, red currant plum, raspberry and dusty earth—leading to a juicy palate with fresh acidity. Raspberries and their seeds join touches of herb, a lightly fleshy texture, and a savory finish. Approachable for light to medium weight foods and even spicy dishes.

Aromas of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, and light earth unfold from the glass. On the palate, fruit flavors of cherry, raspberry and red plum mingle with a light herbal note. The wine is medium-bodied, nicely ripe and slightly rounded, yet clean, pure and fresh. It’s particularly refreshing for summer sipping!

From the producer: Blackberry, bacon, graphite, blueberry, rose. With the 2021 vintage, I have reverted to the intrinsic character of my first Côtes du Rhône from 1997 to 2000. This intense, energetic Syrah with its crimson hue is fresh with ‘espressivo cantabile’ aromas of red berry fruits and a rounded palate.

A medium bouquet of red currants and cherries with cooked or concentrated raspberries and earth. The palate is sleek and supple with cherry, soil and plum. This wine is super fresh and yet deep with very fine and complex tannins and structure.

The nose offers light raspberry and forest underbrush, with food-friendly acidity and structure on the palate. There is nothing unripe or overripe on the palate but there is good density and concentration.

This wine is complex with tertiary notes that layer with wood spice, touches of earth, dried mushrooms, plums and black cherries. The palate echoes the aromas with savory flavors that support its structure making it a lovely wine for just sipping or pairing with food. This wine has medium acidity on its medium frame and it plush without being rich. 

One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. The estate has been in the Peyraud family for generations and has a long, storied history that’s beautifully documented in Kermit Lynch’s newsletters and book, Adventures on the Wine Route (an absolute must read for any wine lover). On the nose, one finds clove, black pepper, dark, concentrated berry pie fruits and subtle smokiness. This wine is full bodied and full flavored with hearty winter notes of baked berries, cherry pie, kirsch, mulling spices, toast and spiced fruit preserves. It is rich and concentrated, yet easy to drink due to its round texture and balanced acidity.

Aromas reminiscent of the Old World with a fresh spin; think tart red fruit, minerality, forest floor, wood spice and a savory character. On the palate it has more New World flavors: blackberry, vanilla, baking spice, and bittersweet cocoa. It is complex, supple, and tasty.

This deeply colored wine offers powerful aromas of mulberry, mocha, sweet wood, and damson plum. In the mouth, it is juicy with moderate plus acidity. The aromas are echoed in the flavors—plum, dark chocolate, smoke, mulberry, and sweet wood. Tannins are fine-grained and nearly invisible, but they provide just enough structure. It is medium plus in body and length.

This is quite aromatic, offering sweet wood, dark fruit--blackberry, blueberry, spiced cherry, plum--and cedar, all nicely integrated, with each sniff providing something more and different. The palate is equally integrated and complex. The fine tannins and moderate acidity are lovely, supporting and melding with the fruit. The fruit itself is dark berries, patient and thorough, subtle and a real presence. This is a wine one wants always on the wine rack to be enjoyed again and again. Medium bodied with a longer finish.

Cassis, dusty red fruit, cured meat, and old world spice round out the complex nose. In the glass the Montepulciano bursts with splendid tart red and black fruit. The wine is medium plus body with integrated grippy tannins.

Aromas of red and black currants, smoke and black pepper are classic for this variety.  This is medium in weight with blackberries, plums, espresso and lingering wood smoke. The fine tannins, integrated acidity and forward fruit make this an accessible wine.

This medium to lighted bodied red offers red cherry and strawberry fruit along with notes of mineral, stone and light spice. The fruit is fresh and you'll find fine to medium tannins that provide structure.

Aromas of black cherry, earth and faint smoke lead to a medium weight Cabernet Franc with black berry and black cherry fruit that is fresh, pure and slightly candied, with a touch of minerality. This has moderate acidity and a very fine texture.

This bold red features rich, smoky black fruits such as currants and blackberries along with graphite, dark chocolate, toast, black pepper and singed herbs. It is full-bodied with velvety tannins and integrated acidity.

In this bottling from Yves Leccia, the French import Grenache—called Elegante in Corsica—takes center stage, offering fragrant notes of lavender spiced with balmy Mediterranean brush. There is ripeness on the attack and then refreshing sandalwood and vibrant black raspberry. A splash of the indigenous Niellucciu completes the blend, adding some muscle to this savory, cherry red whose sunny island flavors come into focus when slightly chilled.

The aromas and flavors of this wine are abundant and complex. Pleasurable black fruits and notes of baking spice and chocolate accompany light smoke. Bold with round, ripe, suave tannins and juicy acidity, this is medium bodied but stays lip smacking with its juiciness. Secondary flavors of licorice, black cherry, chocolate, lead, blueberry and a touch of black pepper. The Zorzal Malbec is well-integrated and extremely enjoyable.

Off all of South Hill ciders this one has more earthy and woodsy aromas. It begins with minerality and apple blossom with tart granny smith acid. The palate has a touch of honey and bitter grapefruit mingle with crisp tannins and long finish.
