This red opens with aromas of macerated black cherries, black olives, smoky tea and forest floor. The palate offers flavors of ripe plums seamlessly joined with rich umami flavors such as black olives, tea, mushrooms and subtly-mulled spices. Texturally, it is super silky with rounded tannins and acidity completely wrapped in. The finish stays fresh, inviting you to enjoy with food and explore another sip.
Grapes for this wine come from low-yielding bush vines at 1500 ft a.s.l on a 30-degree slope overlooking the River Sil. The single vineyard is made of three small parcels of old vines planted between 1948 and 1963.
Grapes are 75% destemmed and the rest undergo a semi-carbonic maceration with whole clusters. Eight months in used French oak barrique (2-5 years old) and further aging in bottle. Unfined and unfiltered.
