This indigenous grape offers aromas of black cherry, olives, raisin and cocoa powder. On the palate, it is easy drinking with similar notes of cherry skin, cocoa, sweet raisin, olives and dark chocolate. It’s inky with soft tannins, apropos for fall!

This wine begins with aromas of earth, brown spice, and exhuberant fruit (cherries galore). On the palate, it is medium bodied with plums and mixed cherries, touches of barn, integrated acidity and ultra-soft tannins, ending with a silky finish. This is fine, satisfying and versatile with food!

Aging in those new barrels lasted for almost two years. This is always quite ripe, and the Cabernet never shows any pyrazines or herbal aromas; there are plums, blackberries and a balsamic touch. This Tempranillo, Merlot, Garnacha blend is a serious wine, its black fruits (cherry and raspberry) bonding with graphite, iron, dark earth, and chocolate aromas. The palate is medium bodied; its concentration and complexity emerge with exposure to air. It finishes with a touch of forest floor and smoke framed by food-friendly tannins.

Earthy underbrush aromas lead to rich blackberry and toasted wood notes. The palate is rich in texture and depth with concentrated flavors of stewed black berries and currants. This wine develops with air, adding rich baking spice and dark chocolate notes to the complexity of this fuller-bodied Tempranillo.

This Rioja is drinking in its prime. It has plum and black cherry flavors with toasty oak, cedar and dusty notes. Classic for Rioja and very textural, with everything well integrated and softly rounded. This is a great option if you want a wine with some development, yet with the ripeness to warm you on a cool evening.

The nose gives aromas of red and black cherry, baked raspberry pie, cranberry, meat, garrigue and smoke. It smells Italian! The palate is medium weight with strawberries, berry seeds, violets, mineral and camp fire. It has a softer structure than you might expect from Nebbiolo, with integrated acidity and tannins. A long, balsamic finish completes the package.

Aromas include cassis, blackberry and touches of smoke and pepper.  The palate offers nice intensity with mulberry, cassis and blackberry flavors supported by sleek, supple tannins, black pepper, and a touch of smoky graphite/earthy-minerality.

From the producer: Lynch-Bages 2015 has a brilliant, deep colour with purple hues. Its nose clearly expresses aromas of cassis and dark fruit, mixed with the empyreumatic notes that come with ageing. It has a straightforward attack and a voluminous yet supple mid-palate. The wine has a marked but silky tannic structure, and a persistent finish illustrative of a particularly ripe vintage.

This wine has exceptional balance to it! It is dark fruited with black currant and blackberry mingling perfectly with a stony earthiness. There are some dried rose petals and enticing wild side. The palate delivers a great balance; supple texture and harmony between the just ripe fruit and the earthy minerality. The finish is long with some tobacco, black pepper and ripe black cherry. 

Chateau Maris is a 30-year-old, 75-hectare estate, 34 under vine, farmed biodynamically.  The winery is built into a hill, largely underground, using hemp bricks, with no concrete or plastic.  Labels are printed on recycled paper using organic soy ink.  The grapes are harvested manually, vine by vine (rather than block by block).  Les Planels, “the flat place,” is a vineyard above the winery where the grapes come from.  This wine is fermented in wooden tanks and aged for 12 months in oak barrels, only15% new, designed to bring out a velvety texture rather than spicy or vanilla flavors.

Aromas of BBQ sauce, stewed tomato, dark fruit, and sweet smoke. Medium plus in body, this Bordeaux blend is rich with black currant, blackberry, a hint of sweet smoke, and savory tree bark. With soft tannins, the finish is complex and pleasant, a good Bordeaux to drink now!

"Jean-Michel Laporte (previously at La Conseillante) arrived as technical director in 2018, just as this wine was being bottled, and it's not a bad vintage to usher him in to the world of Château Talbot. I drank this at friend's house a few months ago, and it had been open 24 hours by the time we were pouring it out, which just might be the ideal time, as the tannins were soft and open, and everything felt plush and welcoming. It has the balance of the appellation, the precision that Talbot has increasingly showcased over the past few years, and a sappy feel to the tannins. 50% new oak. This co-fermented Chateauneuf is complex and appealing with scents reminiscent of potpourri, spiced plum, cassis and pressed flowers. There is a seduction about the aromas, like fine chocolate and wild animal; think truffle. It offers an opulent palate that is lovely, with blueberry, black currant, cooked plums, spice box, black tea, violets and forest floor. There are also hints of minerality and light toast joining with the ripe fruit. This full-bodied, flavorful red still offers "relief" and a sense of freshness which creates balance in the wine. It is texturally attractive and structurally balanced with medium acidity, well managed tannins and a long finish. 

Aromas are complex: deep red fruit joined by small black fruits; cedary with a touch of cigar box. The palate has good concentration, moderate acidity and fine tannins. This is a fairly powerful wine and yet fresh with flavors of black fruit layered with spice, chocolate and wet forest floor.

Our notes: Aromas are of plum, black cherry, earth and truffle. This is medium weight with black cherry, raspberry and plum fruit that's ripe, not tart. It is fresh with mostly pure fruit and a touch of cooked as well. There are hints of orange, cinnamon and chalk. Tannins are nicely rounded.

Aromas are of raspberry, flowers, tea and singed green branches. The palate is medium weight or more with red cherry, raspberry, light truffle and smoke. This wine has nice density with round tannins and moderate acidity. A great value for old vine Cru Beaujolais!

You'll find aromas of cherry cola/Dr Pepper with a thread of singed fruit in the background. This leads into a dense, rich, but well-balanced palate with flavors of dark cherry skins, stovetop fruit with rosemary, as well as notes of tobacco and leather. This is a very aromatic wine, with fresh dark cherries and plums and a touch of pepper and bark. In the mouth, this is juicy, fruity (raspberries, figs, plums), and well structured by round tannins. It is complex, with a touch of savory dried herbs and woodsy notes, hints of coffee and chocolate, and a great mouthfeel. It’s definitely food-oriented, though it is also pleasurable alone.

Attractive red jam fruits are still dry in this Zinfandel-based wine which has nice purity and finesse, as well as velvety tannins. It has medium acidity or even more, giving it good balance. There's plenty of flavor here, including a little brambly note.
