This is an old-school style of Rioja, offering savory blackberry and other dark fruits, chocolate, smoke and violets on the nose. Soft tannins, fine acidity, and medium-plus body support dark chocolate, cherries, blueberries and black currants. The wine was made using carbonic maceration, so there’s a forward fruitiness.
