WINE INFORMATION

Founded by the French family behind Champagne Taittinger, Domaine Carneros was established in 1987 by Claude Taittinger who selected a 138-acre parcel in the heart of Carneros, Napa Valley. He chose Eileen Crane to be the head winemaker and CEO of the newly founded winery. In 2020, after 33 years, Crane passed the torch to a new CEO, Remi Cohen, to carry on the tradition of female leadership. TJ Evans joined the winemaking team at Domaine Carneros in 2008 to oversee the winery’s still winemaking program, which is focused on Pinot Noir. His experience comes from a master’s in enology at UC Davis and wine making at top estates all over the world, from France, New Zealand and Chile.

In 2003 the winery updated its facility to feature 18,000 feet of solar panels. This was the largest solar panel installation of any winery in the world. They also have 20 different clones of Pinot Noir planted throughout their six Carneros AVA vineyards, this estate blend is from all 6 vineyards. Since its beginning Domaine Carneros strives to have a variety of green practices in place. All vineyards are certified sustainable by Fish Friendly Farming and located within four miles of the Château.

2018 was an ideal vintage for Pinot. The growing season had moderate temperatures in spring and summer which allowed a steady maturation of the grapes. The grapes had a ripening season and was an abundant crop. All grapes are handpicked at night when it’s cooler, processed as gently as possible, and aged in 100% French Oak barrels for 10-16 months.
