Tasting Notes

Dense garnet in color. Concentrated aromas of black currant, fleshy plum, warm spices, cocoa, and grilled meats.  Despite its age, there's still some baby fat here. The wine is spicy, with black raspberry, fruit compote, and savory notes. Medium plus in body and length with integrated tannins.

Producer notes: A cascade of cinnamon-spiced cherries rushes across the mouth. Mocha and red licorice are aligned and the tannins are slightly chalky, but this wine's power lies in its balance and regal grace.

Grown on an 18-acre estate mountain vineyard at elevations up to 2,200 feet in rocky red volcanic soil. The vineyard is CCOF Organic and Demeter Biodynamic certified. The 2019 growing season exhibited moderate temperatures with slow, even development and ripening in the vineyard allowing for long hangtime. This gave the wine complexity, depth of color and falvors, as well as balance of fruit and acid. Harvest was October 1st, low yields (3 tons/acre).

Handcrafted in an old-world style with minimal intervention in the cellar. 100% French oak. 260 cases produced.
