From the producer:  Pale yellow colour. The nose is still on its reserve but the signature of the limestone marls is very present: citrus fruits, wet stone and opens towards the flower of acacia, even lime blossom over time. Both discreet and at the same time seductive. The energy of the wine felt on the nose is found on the palate. The attack is ample, the wine coats the mouth with harmony and power, opening on a beautiful aromatic complexity of ripe fruit. The typical acidity of this cru is found on the finish, tense and salivating, broad and caressing, under the influence of the clay which brings power and delicacy to the wine. It is a wine that has a very long aging potential!

From the producer: Pale yellow colour. The nose shows the strong limestone influence: mineral, stone driven, citrus fruits and some white fruits (peach) after some aeration. The wine fermented in a large recent oak cask (foudre) and was on full lees until bottling. The palate is quite strict, bone dry, with a racy sapid acidity that gives a juicy texture on the finish. The wine has a nice concentration, but because it is bone dry with a ripe acidity, it feels elegant and delicate.

Aromas of dark fruits, light earth and nutmeg introduce this wine. It is medium plus in body with blackberry, black raspberry, baking spice, dark earth and tobacco. Although it offers density, the tannins and acid are well integrated, giving a soft and silky texture. It’s the perfect party quaffer or pair with steak, beef stew, or roasted lamb shanks, liberally involving charring, grilling or smoking. From the producer: Lynch-Bages 2015 has a brilliant, deep colour with purple hues. Its nose clearly expresses aromas of cassis and dark fruit, mixed with the empyreumatic notes that come with ageing. It has a straightforward attack and a voluminous yet supple mid-palate. The wine has a marked but silky tannic structure, and a persistent finish illustrative of a particularly ripe vintage.

This medium bodied Bordeaux has lovely minerality combined with plum fruit and black raspberry notes. The texture is finely tannined with fresh acidity lifting the flavors. There's good purity here, unadulterated by wood notes. This makes a great food partner for medium weight foods -- a red that can be enjoyed with white meats such as chicken and pork.

This is an old-school style of Rioja, offering savory blackberry and other dark fruits, chocolate, smoke and violets on the nose. This is a very aromatic wine, with fresh dark cherries and plums and a touch of pepper and bark. In the mouth, this is juicy, fruity (raspberries, figs, plums), and well structured by round tannins. It is complex, with a touch of savory dried herbs and woodsy notes, hints of coffee and chocolate, and a great mouthfeel. It’s definitely food-oriented, though it is also pleasurable alone.

From the producer: A bowl of summer fruits including sweet blackberries, raspberries, black olives and pomegranates which are highlighted by black pepper, violets and fresh green olive scents that develop and evolve with air. Vivacious and bright in the mouth with real density of flavor and concentration from the long cool growing season.

The mid-weight palate features juicy red and black berries and fruit leather supported by light sandalwood and floral-violet notes. Additional flavors of white pepper and smoke are framed around the lingering black cherry notes of this wine. Tannins remain smooth and acidity fresh. An excellent value wine!

This has been aged in newer oak, dill and coconut aromas mingle with stewed mixed fruit. This smells classic; old world spice, dried rose petals, touch of earth. The palate delivers olive tapenade, black pepper, tobacco and mixed red and black berries. The structure is medium plus in body, with just right tannin structure that could age longer, but is drinking well right now.

This ripe and fruit forward wine is juicy with black pepper, dark plums, chocolate-covered cherries and rose peppercorns. This palate is rich and round with cherry pie notes and some good oak influence, especially offering baking spices and mocha.

Aromas of cooked black berries, black olives, rosemary, yeast and rye bread jump out of the glass. This wine is medium-plus in body with ripe, but not heavy, fruits of black currants and black cherries mixed with rosemary and thyme. It is juicy and fresh with a light oak influence.

One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. Aromas include ripe blueberry, cherry, vanilla and dried flowers/herbs. It's more savory on the palate than the nose suggests. Complex flavors of plum, blueberry, dried herbs and a tomato leaf are supported by integrated acid, velvety tannins and a long finish.

This wine is from phylloxera-free vineyards with unirrigated grapes, giving it a pronounced personality. Fresh red and cooked cherries, spiced plums, and light balsamic notes characterize the aromas. The palate is medium to medium plus in body with macerated cherries and raspberries, plum molasses, and some vanilla and cinnamon. This wine has a level of minerality that reflecting its volcanic soil but is balanced with round tannins and a long finish.

This wine is fragrant as soon as the cork leaves the bottle! The aromas are beautifully integrated, with plum, bramble, small dark fruits, and dried herbs including oregano and sage. Tannins have softened with some age and are doing just what they should be, allowing the flavor elements to show off. Dark berries, plums, and herbal elements dance. This is quite aromatic, offering sweet wood, dark fruit--blackberry, blueberry, spiced cherry, plum--and cedar, all nicely integrated, with each sniff providing something more and different. The palate is equally integrated and complex. The fine tannins and moderate acidity are lovely, supporting and melding with the fruit. The fruit itself is dark berries, patient and thorough, subtle and a real presence. This is a wine one wants always on the wine rack to be enjoyed again and again. Medium bodied with a longer finish.

Spicy/floral aromas of dried rose petal, cinnamon and dried cherries. Ripe red and black fruit on the palate that remains balanced by soft, integrated tannins. Toasty vanilla and caramel notes linger on the longer finish.

Medium aromatic with notes of red raspberry, black cherry, pepper and tobacco. The palate is medium-weight with red raspberry, tart black currants, rosemary and lightly savory notes. This is very quaffable and not as big as some of its Spanish counterparts; consider giving it a light chill.
