From the producer:
Pale yellow colour. The nose is still on its reserve but the signature of the limestone marls is very present: citrus fruits, wet stone and opens towards the flower of acacia, even lime blossom over time. Both discreet and at the same time seductive. The energy of the wine felt on the nose is found on the palate. The attack is ample, the wine coats the mouth with harmony and power, opening on a beautiful aromatic complexity of ripe fruit. The typical acidity of this cru is found on the finish, tense and salivating, broad and caressing, under the influence of the clay which brings power and delicacy to the wine. It is a wine that has a very long aging potential!
Clos Häuserer is located just below the limit of the Grand Cru Hengst on the village of Wintzenheim, where the slope changes for a less steep exposure towards the east. The soil is a slope colluvium, namely the marl-calcaro-sandstone mother rock of the Oligocene period is covered with a good meter of marls and clay that originates from the hill above. This deep and iron-rich terroir matures slowly in a warm and precocious meso-climate, protected from the winds by the surrounding hill. The Riesling still retains a very good acidity and the wine of this Clos is recognized by its ability to age. Planted in 1973 by Léonard Humbrecht, this Clos of 1.2ha produced in 2020 healthy, ripe grapes which gave a wine which took a year to finish its fermentation !
