This wine is rich and dense without being heavy or overbearing. There are notes of lychee and tropical fruit, it's bright and clean, and the texture is rounded. This Late Harvest Riesling is crafted in the traditional German Spätlese style, with natural sweetness balanced by lively acidity. The outcome is a wine with an elegant yet luscious nose, followed by a generous palate of crisp ripe stone fruit and floral notes, lingering into a long, naturally sweet finish. 4.3% residual sugar.

From the producer: Pale yellow colour. The nose shows the strong limestone influence: mineral, stone driven, citrus fruits and some white fruits (peach) after some aeration. The wine fermented in a large recent oak cask (foudre) and was on full lees until bottling. The palate is quite strict, bone dry, with a racy sapid acidity that gives a juicy texture on the finish. The wine has a nice concentration, but because it is bone dry with a ripe acidity, it feels elegant and delicate.

Concentrated aromas of blueberry compote, cassis and black plum with savory notes that make you want to dive into the glass; think licorice, tobacco, roasted tomatoes, mint and BBQ sweetness. The aromas are upheld on the palate with a smoky/meaty note, roasted red pepper, more raspberry and cherry, equally complex tertiary notes of leather, bitter cocoa, poppyseed, campfire smoke, and menthol. The texture is well-integrated with supple tannins, medium acidity and great concentration.

An aromatic wine with lots of complexity, floral with pressed roses, spiced plum, licorice and blackberry. The palate shows come baking spice notes such as clove, licorice, and black pepper. More toast and macerated red cherries to finish. It is medium plus and drinking well now.  This is a classic, example of Chateauneuf.

This 100% Syrah shows classic elements of black cherry, red plum, and garrigue on the nose. It is terroir-driven with sandalwood, licorice, light smoke, garrigue and amaro-esque medicinal herbs. The palate is medium weight with just-right acidity, rendering it a pleasant and easy drinking wine with nice complexity. Try with braises of root vegetables or with beans or lentils, chicken, lamb and beef dishes, or sautéed mushrooms. Add rosemary and thyme to pick up the wine’s herbal profile.

The nose offers black cherry and blueberry fruit, black olive, spice and touches of iron/earth. Dark fruit continues on the palate with present, but well-integrated tannins, touches of bittersweet chocolate and a juicy black cherry linger on the finish.

From Decanter Concentrated autumnal fruit offers a hawthorny bramble of blackberry and bilberry. Big-framed, muscular tannins are joined by plenty of acidity - it's very clearly built to last and confident in its ability to reward those with patience. Matured in 50% new oak. From the producer: Lynch-Bages 2015 has a brilliant, deep colour with purple hues. Its nose clearly expresses aromas of cassis and dark fruit, mixed with the empyreumatic notes that come with ageing. It has a straightforward attack and a voluminous yet supple mid-palate. The wine has a marked but silky tannic structure, and a persistent finish illustrative of a particularly ripe vintage.

This wine has exceptional balance to it! It is dark fruited with black currant and blackberry mingling perfectly with a stony earthiness. There are some dried rose petals and enticing wild side. The palate delivers a great balance; supple texture and harmony between the just ripe fruit and the earthy minerality. The finish is long with some tobacco, black pepper and ripe black cherry. 

Chateau Maris is a 30-year-old, 75-hectare estate, 34 under vine, farmed biodynamically.  The winery is built into a hill, largely underground, using hemp bricks, with no concrete or plastic.  Labels are printed on recycled paper using organic soy ink.  The grapes are harvested manually, vine by vine (rather than block by block).  Les Planels, “the flat place,” is a vineyard above the winery where the grapes come from.  This wine is fermented in wooden tanks and aged for 12 months in oak barrels, only15% new, designed to bring out a velvety texture rather than spicy or vanilla flavors.

Aromas of BBQ sauce, stewed tomato, dark fruit, and sweet smoke. Medium plus in body, this Bordeaux blend is rich with black currant, blackberry, a hint of sweet smoke, and savory tree bark. With soft tannins, the finish is complex and pleasant, a good Bordeaux to drink now!

I drank this at friend's house a few months ago, and it had been open 24 hours by the time we were pouring it out, which just might be the ideal time, as the tannins were soft and open, and everything felt plush and welcoming. It has the balance of the appellation, the precision that Talbot has increasingly showcased over the past few years, and a sappy feel to the tannins. 50% new oak. Aromas are complex: deep red fruit joined by small black fruits; cedary with a touch of cigar box. The palate has good concentration, moderate acidity and fine tannins. This is a fairly powerful wine and yet fresh with flavors of black fruit layered with spice, chocolate and wet forest floor.

Don't let this light red fool you! It's flavorful and satisfying with attractive red cherry, mineral and underbrush notes. The wine is fresh and exhileratingly crisp. Enjoy with light to medium weight foods or if you want to cut through the fat on a richer meal like barbeque or steak.

Our notes: Aromas are of plum, black cherry, earth and truffle. This is medium weight with black cherry, raspberry and plum fruit that's ripe, not tart. It is fresh with mostly pure fruit and a touch of cooked as well. There are hints of orange, cinnamon and chalk. Tannins are nicely rounded.

Aromas are of raspberry, flowers, tea and singed green branches. The palate is medium weight or more with red cherry, raspberry, light truffle and smoke. This wine has nice density with round tannins and moderate acidity. A great value for old vine Cru Beaujolais!

This is a riper more modern style of Burgundy, making it very approachable to new Burgundy drinkers, with ripe red fruited aromas, cherries, tobacco, and candied cranberries. A medium bodied and savory pinot with plum, raspberry, medium acid, and grippy tannins.

This is a very aromatic wine, with fresh dark cherries and plums and a touch of pepper and bark. In the mouth, this is juicy, fruity (raspberries, figs, plums), and well structured by round tannins. It is complex, with a touch of savory dried herbs and woodsy notes, hints of coffee and chocolate, and a great mouthfeel. It’s definitely food-oriented, though it is also pleasurable alone.

Notes of extracted darker berry fruit, kirsch, black cherry, and plum. A touch of almond skin, garrigue and light barnyard notes. It is medium in body, with fresh acidity and rich concentration.

This beautiful Otago Pinot Noir is blossoming with aromas of leather, tobacco, some smoke, earth, dried cranberries and prunes, and blackberries. The palate is soft and savory with dried flowers, cola, black tea, medium acidity, and velvety tannins. Silky and complex, fresh and rich, it keeps improving hours after opening!

One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today.
