White

This wine smells unctuous before you even put it in your mouth. Scents of baked apple and peach, cardamon and honey greet you in the glass. It is dense and rich with honey apple, pineapple and peach flavors combining with cardamon, ginger, five-spice and a granitic mineral note. Although there is a touch of sweetness, this is equally refreshing. Full bodied, concentrated and a perfect example of the Brand vineyard.

Albert Boxler Brand Riesling 2015
Unctuous and rich without being sweet, this white blend provides a viscous mouthfeel that is dense and packed with orchard and tropical fruit flavors. The wine is bright and clean with notes of apricot, apple, lychee and peach "on steroids." There's some minerality and enough acid to keep it balanced and make one go back for sip after sip. A touch of florality lurks in the background of this luscious white.

Albert Boxler Edelzwicker 2019
From the producer: Pale yellow colour. The nose shows the strong limestone influence: mineral, stone driven, citrus fruits and some white fruits (peach) after some aeration. The wine fermented in a large recent oak cask (foudre) and was on full lees until bottling. The palate is quite strict, bone dry, with a racy sapid acidity that gives a juicy texture on the finish. The wine has a nice concentration, but because it is bone dry with a ripe acidity, it feels elegant and delicate.

While good to keep for another five to eight years, this wine can be enjoyed immediately with roasted poultry, poached fish with citrus and ginger, a vegetarian curry, or fine aged cheeses."

Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars Dry Riesling 2019
This is a wonderful and complex semi-dry Riesling. At first, it begins with notes of petrol mixed with white tea and tropical fruit such as guava. The palate gives generous apricot, pineapple and guava fruitiness mixed with minerality and florality. The wine can seem weighty at first sip, but the acid stays perky and with the right food, it dances on the palate.

Chateau Cantelaudette Graves de Vayres 2016
"The greatest Cantenac Brown I have ever tasted, the 2010 is one for the ages. Dense purple, with an extraordinary nose of sweet forest floor, blackberry jam, pen ink and graphite, this wine soars from the glass, giving it an aromatic dimension and intensity I have never seen from this estate. The tannins are present, as they are in most Cantenac Browns, but the wine’s sweetness, broad, skyscraper-like mouthfeel, dense, purple color and spectacular length (close to a minute) make this a giant classic and a fabulous sleeper of the vintage that still remains under-priced, considering how great its potential may be. This is a wine for those with cold cellars and youthful DNA. It is going to need at least a decade of cellaring and should last for 20-40 years. A classic!" - 94+ Points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, February, 2013

This is essentially the Chateau Maris Les Planels (Syrah-based wine) without any sulfites added. (it says "sans souffre" on the neck of the capsule). The name means "to know how to age." One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. The estate has been in the Peyraud family for generations and has a long, storied history that’s beautifully documented in Kermit Lynch’s newsletters and book, Adventures on the Wine Route (an absolute must read for any wine lover). The family is still going strong today, yet the wines are now made by Daniel Ravier. -Wine Advocate
