Aromas of dark fruits, light earth and nutmeg introduce this wine. It is medium plus in body with blackberry, black raspberry, baking spice, dark earth and tobacco. From the Producer: Barda is the local term for “eroded steep slope” Often perceived as the “village level” Pinot Noir at Chacra, Barda is sourced from the estate’s “youngest vines” planted in the 1990s. The vines are ungrafted, from an original massale selection on sandy calcareous soils presenting a more high toned aromatic component in the wine. Barda is fermented in equal parts concrete and French oak, 15% of which is new followed by an 11 month elévage. Unfined/unfiltered with minimal sulphur.

The nose offers black cherry and blueberry fruit, black olive, spice and touches of iron/earth. Dark fruit continues on the palate with present, but well-integrated tannins, touches of bittersweet chocolate and a juicy black cherry linger on the finish.

MC² is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon and is our fan-favorite red blend meant for everyday consumption. Each variety and vineyard are picked, fermented, and aged separately and combined after 10 months of ageing in barrel before bottling. In 2023, this blend was 63% sourced from east Seneca Lake and 37% sourced from west Cayuga Lake, with 51% of the blend being from our estate vineyards. With the varying topographies, soils, vineyard age, and varieties planted, the blend truly encapsulates the season from mid-September through the end of October.

This is not effusive. It is medium bodied with medium plus acidity and ends with rose water, black tea and some smoke. This is approachable now!

This wine is from phylloxera-free vineyards with unirrigated grapes, giving it a pronounced personality. Fresh red and cooked cherries, spiced plums, and light balsamic notes characterize the aromas. The palate is medium to medium plus in body with macerated cherries and raspberries, plum molasses, and some vanilla and cinnamon. This wine has a level of minerality that reflecting its volcanic soil but is balanced with round tannins and a long finish.

The palate is fruit forward with both tart and ripe notes including red raspberry, tart cherry and pomegranate fruit mixed with white pepper and lightly funky earth and herbs. Tannins are smooth with some perky acidity peeking out. 

This medium to lighted bodied red offers red cherry and strawberry fruit along with notes of mineral, stone and light spice. The fruit is fresh and you'll find fine to medium tannins that provide structure.

Mixed aromas of red cherry, red currants cinnamon, clove and oregano framed this medium-bodied wine. Fresh acidity and flavors of tobacco and spiced raspberry are balanced by soft, integrated tannins.

Medium aromatic with notes of red raspberry, black cherry, pepper and tobacco. The palate is medium-weight with red raspberry, tart black currants, rosemary and lightly savory notes. This is very quaffable and not as big as some of its Spanish counterparts; consider giving it a light chill.

Aromas include watermelon, ripe strawberry and blood orange.  Flavors on the palate echo the aromas with more strawberry and refreshing acidity to balance.  Touches of wet stone, white cherry, and citrus linger on the longer finish. The pinot noir and kékfrankos parts were harvested intentionally with a low potential alcohol for the rosé wine. The juice of merlot and cabernet franc grapes was gained by the “saignée” method. The must was fermented on low temperature in stainless steel tanks.

Fresh ripe dark fruit such as black cherry, blackcap, and black currants with subtle violets and black peppercorns. It is not complex but is worthy of drinking all day because of fun this is. The flavors are similar to the nose with extra dried herbs, juicy raspberry and red pepper.
