Not only is the bottle unusual for an Italian Vermentino, so is the wine inside. There is some persistent rosemary and sage underneath the fruit flavor. It is medium plus in body and balanced with medium acidity.

Grapefruit and fresh hay combine with pear and apple on the nose in this liter bottle. The wine presents appealing juicy fruit including granny smith apple, and cooked apple as well. The finish is more mineral and citrus driven than the previous vintage and lingers with just the right amount of acidity.

Characteristically, Vermentino presents aromas of macchia, a blend of evergreen shrubs and herbs common to the Sardinian landscape. The Costamolino is the quintessential Sardinian vermentino with hints of pine and mint coupled with ripe stone fruit and sweet citrus. The palate is at once vibrant and rounded, with saline notes complementing the fruit and appropriate acidity lingering through the finish.

This wine has nice density on the palate and the flavors are similar to the nose with kumquat, ripe peach, melons and minerality. There is a slight bitterness like a peach pit as well.

Clean and zesty with lemon, crunchy green pear, nectarine and fennel. The flavors are clean with good concentration of vanilla, almond, bosc pear and soft peach. The medium weight texture of this wine is balanced, fresh and delicious because the acid is thorough and lees characteristic gives subtly.

This wine has unusual and delightful aromatics, think of fennel, lemongrass, almond and lychee. A rich almost sweet texture with zippy acid and flavors of grapefruit, tangerine and chamomile. Long finish with lingering mineral overtones. fragrant notes of jasmine, peony, and lime.

This wine is ideal with food because it has some weight and texture but is quite salty, mineral and has pleasant bitterness of white tea or roasted nuts. The fruit leans more towards nectarine and apricot with concentrated lemon notes. There is a persistent floral note that will remind you of jasmine that makes this wine alluring and unique.

The nose offers spiced plum, a touch of licorice and olives, sweet wood and dried herbs. In the mouth, this wine is full bodied and flavorful. Deep red fruits, black currants, blackberry, and black cherry, as well as black olives merge with bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and tobacco notes. This has character and personality without being overbearing.

This wine is fragrant as soon as the cork leaves the bottle! The aromas are beautifully integrated, with plum, bramble, small dark fruits, and dried herbs including oregano and sage. Tannins have softened with some age and are doing just what they should be, allowing the flavor elements to show off. Dark berries, plums, and herbal elements dance. Medium bodied with a longer finish.

Aromas of cherry, crushed raspberries, minerals and flowers, show good typicity for Pinot. The dry palate is elegant, with more cherry fruit, a bit of toast, tea leaves, smoke and meatiness. Smooth and medium-bodied, the wine has moderate acidity that complements rather than obscures the abundant cherry and black currant fruit.

Concentrated and rich fruit scents of cassis, blackberry and blueberry with black tea and licorice. It is supple in texture with velvety tannins on a medium plus frame with medium acidity. This appassimento wine uses dried grapes to concentrate the flavors. It is soft and supple in texture with velvety tannins on a medium frame. Stewed black and red fruits are accompanied by light tobacco and spice and a touch of smoke. Notes of blackberry, black cherries, and dates follow through to spices and dried herbs on the finish.

Medium aromatics with black cherry, blackberry, and an herbaceous quality. Both red and black cherry greet you on the palate with some cooked berry, black pepper, and spice. The fruit is present and balanced with a light amount of savory bark. Medium-bodied with medium-plus acid, excellent with food.

This is an aromatically old world italian. This is classic rustic barn and earth but with some tart red fruit like cranberries and currants coming through. There is fresh red cherries, light floral notes of red roses and red raspberries. The palate matches its aromas with an almost orange zest note.  The tannins here are persistent, lingering and round. The acid is refreshing and balances nicely with the higher alcohol content. This wine could age an additional 20 years but it showing some complex notes already.  

Ripe red fruits, mulling spices, and underbrush open on the nose. This medium-bodied wine is complex with round tannins and integrated acidity. Black cherry, black caps, and herbed raspberry jam segue into light notes of underbrush and bramble on the finish.

Rich scents of violets, rose petals, black and red cherries, and so much blueberry! Additional aromas of licorice, black pepper and minerality lead to flavors of  plums, balanced by structuring, fresh acidity and minerality.  It is medium body with a medium finish. The palate is fresh, and has savory dried herbs with some soil notes. The tannins are soft, with round and silky texture that is thoroughly ripe but not heavy and very juicy.

This is such an appealing wine with aromas darker fruit than the last vintage with black fruits (currants, boysenberry, and blueberry) with a touch of florality spring from the nose of unique Mediterranean grape. The wine is medium weight with red and purple fruits, plums, blueberries and rose petals. It is fresh, unique, appealing, fragrant, food-friendly, soft and accessible. The tannins are light to medium weight with crisp acidity.

Spicy, fruity aromas of red cherry and currant with a bit of darker fruit. While fleshy and red-fruited, the palate offers the acidity and bitterness typical of many Italian reds as well as some pepper and figs.

Good richness in the glass with aromatics of dark berries, toast, and chocolate. The palate is concentrated but refined in quality and texture with classy oak use and moderate – albeit appropriately – grippy tannin structure. This is quite aromatic, offering sweet wood, dark fruit--blackberry, blueberry, spiced cherry, plum--and cedar, all nicely integrated, with each sniff providing something more and different. The palate is equally integrated and complex. The fine tannins and moderate acidity are lovely, supporting and melding with the fruit. The fruit itself is dark berries, patient and thorough, subtle and a real presence. This is a wine one wants always on the wine rack to be enjoyed again and again. This aromatic, aged wine offers delicious and complex aromas of ripe black cap raspberries, plums, cassis, dark chocolate, espresso, woodsiness and earth. The palate gives some tertiary flavors of balsamic, fall fruit compote, prunes, espresso, black pepper, tobacco, forest floor, black trumpets, worn leather, and pastry crust; dusty tannins provide structure.

The nose gives aromas of red and black cherry, baked raspberry pie, cranberry, meat, garrigue and smoke. It smells Italian! The palate is medium weight with strawberries, berry seeds, violets, mineral and camp fire. It has a softer structure than you might expect from Nebbiolo, with integrated acidity and tannins. A long, balsamic finish completes the package.

Aromas are complex: deep red fruit joined by small black fruits; cedary with a touch of cigar box. The palate has good concentration, moderate acidity and fine tannins. This is a fairly powerful wine and yet fresh with flavors of black fruit layered with spice, chocolate and wet forest floor.

From the producer: Ruby red in colour with good intensity and garnet hues; on the nose intense and complex with flowery notes of red roses, ripe red fruit, redcurrant, blackberry and slight spicy hints. Immediately on entry, the wine is soft and quite tannic, full flavoured, with a decisive presence in the mouth and a complete and satisfying retronasal sensation.

This wine has great intensity and density with lightly spiced oak influence but not oaky or toasty. The palate has golden apple, cream and ripe pear with nice richness.

Rustic aromas of warm earth, barn, worn leather, and herbs complement ripe red fruits (cranberry, red currant and cooked strawberry) on the nose. This Lambrusco is made with a slightly different grape than most, which makes it more dark in color and flavor. Tart cherry, blackberry and black currant with violets. The palate is elegant and focused, with darker fruit, some minerality and floral notes with bright acidity.

Using a family recipe since 1897, Nonino Amaro is a careful infusion of alpine herbs, enriched today by the presence of UE grapes aged over 5 years.

This digestif is very aromatic with alpine herbs but predominantly mint and spearmint. The palate is equally intense and mint driven with some dark fruits like date and fig represented with herbaceous qualities.

Tart lemon juice and zest on the nose with fresh and not sweet flavors on the palate. This is a lighter style and not cloying but pleasantly fresh.

This is a triple distilled Italian grain wheat. The nose has a little bit of spice like black pepper and the palate is round and smooth.

Honey and caraway greet your nose with pine resin and peach. The flavors host alpine herbs, chamomile, honey, and yellow peach and orange zest, apricot and lemon. There are additional flavors of almond, nettle and anise on the finish.

This alpine liquor is incredibly complex and contradictory. The aromatics deliver similar gin like notes with, coriander, mint, lemon, cilantro, sage and black pepper. When the palate hits the taster it is nothing like you expect, there is lychee, birch beer, marshmallow, forest floor, white pepper, and so much fresh green cues. This of things like fresh grass in the summer, parsley, roasted marshmallow and white pepper that are all very smooth and almost sweet.

It is at the same time creamy and juicy with slight salinity and tannin providing a framework to the wine. A very interesting and captivating wine.
