The aromas in this wine are elegant with sweet oak, butter, vanilla, apple, pear and a whiff of smoke. The palate gives flavors of Asian pear, nectarine, white apple, and grilled peach, along with vanilla and butter. Any oak is elegant and tremendously well integrated; this is bright and clean with lovely minerality. A sensational effort that is well balanced and still exudes California style.

The nose is enticing with aromas of floral, peach, apricot and minerality. On the palate there is a pleasant light bitterness that balances with the full texture and bold flavor of this wine. Flavors of preserved citrus fruits, glazed orange rind and orange blossom, with peach and apricot as well. This wine is ripe, juicy and has a long delicious finish.

From the producer: 01/2024: Pale yellow colour. Restraint nose, profoundly influenced by the volcanic soil: smoke, flint, earthy, which eventually opens to more fruity aromas after a long aeration. Very complex nose but a strong originality and identity. The palate at first appears to have a medium power but builds up to a long dry aftertaste. As often in the past, the Rangen Riesling always manages to hide its power in his youth. Harmonious structure, vivacious acidity which finishes with strong salty flavours, adding to the length of the wine. This wine appears to be delicately chiselled and full of energy in a solar and warm vintage. To keep!

This beautiful full-bodied white exudes white flowers, honey, apricot, and Meyer lemon aromas. The palate is nicely balanced with fresh acidity and complex flavors of cherry blossom, flint, ripe peach, light oak and vanilla, anise seed and kefir lime. 

A fuller, more plush style of Riesling. Notes of Orange blossom and shale-driven minerality show through with striking intensity. Layers of ripe orchard fruit and tropical fruit coat the palate, supported by broad, lingering acidities.

From the get-go, you can tell this wine is full bodied. Aromas are of vanilla, brioche, apple and apricot. The palate is broad and all-encompassing, offering richness and satiety. There's a baked orchard fruit character, along with a touch of almond paste and spiced vanilla custard. Full bodied, bright and generous, this is a white for bigger foods and highly seasoned, creamy dishes. Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is always a treat. This dry red blend is Bordeaux-like, but quite fruity with flavors of plum, red cherry, black raspberry and blackbery. It is medium weight with crisp acidity, a pleasant tartness and moderate tannins. You'll also find light smokiness, some black pepper and lingering blueberry notes. Overall, this wine is nicely harmonized and a great food partner.

Bodegas El Nido was founded in 2002 and is part of the Gil Family Estate. The vineyards are comprised of 64 acres of old vine Monastrell, and 45 acres of 2- year old Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged in barrels for about two years. This wine is big, complex and generous.

An aromatic wine with lots of complexity, floral with pressed roses, spiced plum, licorice and blackberry. The palate shows come baking spice notes such as clove, licorice, and black pepper. More toast and macerated red cherries to finish. It is medium plus and drinking well now.  This is a classic, example of Chateauneuf. 

Dark fruit aromas arise from this appealing Piedmont red, boysenberry, black currants, blueberry, and some floral notes. Medium weigh in body, loaded with red and purple fruits, plums, blueberries, rose pedals, fine tannins, and crisp acidity.

One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. The estate has been in the Peyraud family for generations and has a long, storied history that’s beautifully documented in Kermit Lynch’s newsletters and book, Adventures on the Wine Route (an absolute must read for any wine lover). From the producer: Dark ruby-purple, this wine has deep, alluring aromas of blackcurrant and black plum that are layered with expressive notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and perfume of lavender. Supple, concentrated, and seamless, the palate displays vibrant fruit with undertones of tilled earth and sea salt. Firm, integrated tannins provide a structured backbone to the opulence of the wine, finishing with a lasting, powerful impression.

Aromas of mountain herbs, smoke and red raspberry set the tone for this wine. It is round and rich in texture and highlighted by ripe, succulent fruit flavors including pomegranate, cranberry, and black cherry.

The aromas are dark and rich with black cherry, concentrated cassis and stewed black fruit with a mineral back bone and a hint of smoke. The palate is mineral and more tart red fruit with moderate acidity. Rich and plush, with concentrated cherry tart, plum pudding and dark currant flavors that are well-structured, showing cocoa powder and allspice accents on the open-textured finish. From Decanter Concentrated autumnal fruit offers a hawthorny bramble of blackberry and bilberry. Big-framed, muscular tannins are joined by plenty of acidity - it's very clearly built to last and confident in its ability to reward those with patience. Matured in 50% new oak. The nose gives aromas of red and black cherry, baked raspberry pie, cranberry, meat, garrigue and smoke. It smells Italian! The palate is medium weight with strawberries, berry seeds, violets, mineral and camp fire. It has a softer structure than you might expect from Nebbiolo, with integrated acidity and tannins. A long, balsamic finish completes the package.

Deeply fruited with red and black fruit, hint of wild herbs and lovely olive notes that rides some applewood smoke. Supple tannin and a stony finish with moderate acidity provide texture and offers enough delicacy that makes it easy to like. It is a plump wine that can be sipped casually or savored with heavier protein.

Chocolate, figs, leather, espresso, dried fruit and spices. This is complex, still young and delivers an approachable expression of Amarone that is medium plus in tannins and medium in acidity.

On the nose and the palate the fruit is nicely ripe with black plum, blueberry, mixed cherry and blackberry. The palate has good intensity with plenty of lift, made more complex with notes of dried violets and a spicy finish. This medium-plus-bodied wine is complex and balanced; though it is fruit forward, it offers nice oak quality and blended spice.

"A rich purple in the glass. The complex nose features nuanced aromas ranging from blackberry to blueberry and currant with hints of cedar and spice. In the mouth, it’s juicy with a grippy texture and delicate, concentrated but relaxed tannins before the lengthy finish. It seems that the healthy biodynamic vineyard was able to withstand the warmth of 2020. An extremely well-made wine that handled the conditions with aplomb."

"Its firmly structured reds, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, also boast plenty of blackberry and strawberry fruit with supple tannins that benefit from about two to five years in the bottle. This is a riper more modern style of Burgundy, making it very approachable to new Burgundy drinkers, with ripe red fruited aromas, cherries, tobacco, and candied cranberries. A medium bodied and savory pinot with plum, raspberry, medium acid, and grippy tannins.

This beautiful Otago Pinot Noir is blossoming with aromas of leather, tobacco, some smoke, earth, dried cranberries and prunes, and blackberries. The palate is soft and savory with dried flowers, cola, black tea, medium acidity, and velvety tannins. Silky and complex, fresh and rich, it keeps improving hours after opening!

Quite Old World in its aromas with surprising bright fruit and Chambord-like raspberry with secondary notes of dill, coconut, and tobacco. The palate is delicious and delivers fresh fruit and acid which indicates it’s still in a prime drinking window. The tannins are soft but present on the finish with macerated cherries lingering.

This wine demonstrates some interesting secondary character with touches of black plum, but mostly, forest floor, savory morel mushrooms, black olives, worn leather and smoke.

Clean, invigorating notes of silex on the nose showcase the limestone soils of the Rouanne vineyard. The aromas and flavors develop as the wines opens to reveal wild strawberry and fresh thyme – a complex and flavorful sparkling rosé.

This has a very nice, frothy mousse. It's more of a crisp, clean, minerally style, not very fruity, but not austere either. Notes of lemon, stone and biscuit can be found in this finely-textured, persistent Champagne.
