Earthy aromas include bramble, mineral, garrigue, smoke, berry coolis and plum.  The palate is medium-plus in body with nice ripeness but not too heavy or overoaked. Flavors of red cherry and black currant, a touch of underbrush and black fruit supported by sleek slightly grippy tannins and juicy acidity lingering on the finish. This smells like an old underground cellar with still some tartness and violets. This wine would be an excellent gift or an alternative to a quality Cotes du Rhone.

The nose offers aromas of mixed berries, dried but still bright and juicy. The palate is full and bold, with lush fruit, balanced by fresh acidity. Coffee and cocoa flavors linger on the finish.

From the producer: Blackberry, bacon, graphite, blueberry, rose. With the 2021 vintage, I have reverted to the intrinsic character of my first Côtes du Rhône from 1997 to 2000. This intense, energetic Syrah with its crimson hue is fresh with ‘espressivo cantabile’ aromas of red berry fruits and a rounded palate.

Aromas include black berries and a touch of smoke and minerality. Rich black fruit and cassis with touches of licorice, mocha and spice on the palate. Soft tannins, good concentration, medium-plus in body.

This medium-plus bodied wine shows nice ripeness and yet it also has freshness. There are notes of raspberry, cherry, cinnamon, garrigue and spices, and some acidity keeps it lifted. One can drink it now or enjoy it until 2030.

This is essentially the Chateau Maris Les Planels (Syrah-based wine) without any sulfites added. (it says "sans souffre" on the neck of the capsule). The name means "to know how to age." In actuality, it is a wine that one should probably drink within 3 years of vintage since it has no sulfite protection, but boy, is it drinking beautifully. Medium plus body, rich and ripe, velvety, meaty, with savory undertones. There's nothing overripe here, yet it's seamlessly saturated. If you're into "natural wine," here's a superior example. 

Aromas are smoky with a bit of earth and burnt sugar, mulberry, cassis red fruits, and something wildly Alpine and foresty. The palate is juicy and fresh, with wild berry flavors, spiced plum, cloves, herbal notes, and a slight herbaceousness. Moderate acidity and tannins. This is a wine with soul, medium bodied with a long finish.

Ripe blackberry and a touch of coffee on the nose lead to ripe black cherry and currant flavors. There’s nice concentration supported by baking spice, pepper, and lingering coffee notes on the longer finish.

Strawberry, cranberry, red cherry and some smoke aromatics. The palate is structured with medium plus tannins, medium acid and medium body with flavors like black pepper, plum, and currants.

Complex and interesting aromas of plums, cooked currant and berries, black cherry and toasty wood. Thorough-going but soft tannins support lively, spicy dark fruits. All the components of this wine are well integrated and harmonious. It is easy to drink, just a bit over medium in body with a long finish.

Earthy aromas include cured meat, black pepper, warm earth and spice.  This fuller-bodied beauty will grow in complexity with age as tannins are still somewhat youthful. The palate is rich with dark currants and cassis, black olives, and meatiness. Dark chocolate and black cherry skins linger on the finish.

Aromatics of macerated blackberries, cocoa, and a hint of licorice. This is very smoothly textured, ripe and spicy with dark berries, plum, black pepper, dark chocolate, integrated tannins and an appealing meatiness. It is fuller bodied and warming.

Raspberry, strawberry and red cherry with some garrigue. The palate is medium bodied but ripe and savory with soft dark chocolate, integrated smoke and some black pepper.

Made in an Old World style with moderate extraction, this wine displays a balance of complex aromatics and flavors including plenty of ripe black fruits and candied fruits along with hints of sandalwood and earth.

Dark in the glass with inviting savory notes of pepper and grilled meats on the nose, followed by jammy purple and red fruit with a hint of leather and toasted oak. The palate brings plenty of dark fruit, including blackberry and plums, with approachable, peppery tannins and a long silky finish.

The 2019 Sinister Hand displays spicy, dark, and savory characteristics. The exuberant nose has raspberry aromas with a hint of vanilla, while the lively palate has a soft juicy texture and a well-balanced acidity. Chewy tannins, black cherry, and a hint of toasty French oak round out the vibrant finish.

Complex mixed berry aromas with spice: blackberry, damson plum, Bing cherry are intense and concentrated but quite fresh. There’s a touch of allspice and white pepper as well. The flavors continue the aromatic profile, both fruity and spicy.  This delicious wine is nicely ripe, yet restrained: it has fruit (blackberry, raspberry), spice and structuring elements; all well balanced. It is medium-plus in body with a very long finish.

This is a nice value with great texture and ripe balance with flavors of blackberry and black currants with a long finish. Vibrant, with a fresh core of cherry and cassis notes backed by anise, apple wood and garrigue hints through the finish. Nice underlying juiciness throughout. This is a very aromatic wine, with fresh dark cherries and plums and a touch of pepper and bark. In the mouth, this is juicy, fruity (raspberries, figs, plums), and well structured by round tannins. It is complex, with a touch of savory dried herbs and woodsy notes, hints of coffee and chocolate, and a great mouthfeel. It’s definitely food-oriented, though it is also pleasurable alone.

Quite aromatic with aromas of cherry, grenadine, pomegranate, flowers, star anise and light toast. The palate shows flavors of dark-raspberry, boysenberry, roasted fennel and violets. It is silky, fresh, medium-plus in body with a long finish.

This wine begins with dark, steeped berries encircling fireplace and pine forest aromas. in the mouth, it is creamy and full-flavored, exhibiting wild black currant and dark chocolate flavors mixed with sweet tobacco and black cherry candy. The wine envelops your whole mouth and glides down the throat, leaving a hint of smoke and mocha. First rate and drinking beautifully now, but will age through 2028.

Aromas of dark and red cherry with a touch of smoke, additional charming aromas of macerated black and red currants. The flavors echo the aromas with more chocolate and a touch of bark. The palate has nice round texture with soft but working tannins. The acidity is integrated with a velvety and polished finish.

On the nose this wine has Moroccan spices, wet stone, smoke and black fruit like plum and blackberry. On the palate, there are rich blackcurrants and black cherries with dried herbs and garrigue along with notes of spice, kirsch, black licorice and bitter chocolate. This red is dense, with beautiful structure, velvety tannins and good length.

This non-vintage red blend combines fruit-driven young wine with more mature reds. It begins with aromas of cooked red and black fruits, toast, tobacco, spices, roasted red peppers and herbs. It then  shows off well integrated cherry and currant fruit, toast, cinnamon, baking spices, sweet tobacco leaf and cigar box on the palate. This is ripe, but not jammy. It's just over medium weight with moderate acidity. A very good value!

This wine gives mostly red fruits on the nose -- pomegranate, strawberry and raspberry, along with vanilla. It is medium plus in weight and quite rich with ultra-soft tannins that show it is in its prime drinking stage now. There are flavors of red cherry, raspberry, plum, strawberry coulis, licorice, vanilla and a touch of sassafras. You'll be talking about its texture though -- the integrated acidity and seamless tannins are a joy. What a value!

Aromas of walking through the woods and picking blackberries. The nose has dark plum, blackberry, cassis with mocha slight dusty earth and some black pepper. The palate is integrated with a long finish, delivering flavors of licorice, espresso, vanilla and thorough dark fruits.

This wine presents minerally, ripe raspberry and plum fruit with integrated acid, giving a seamless, beautiful texture that finishes with some youthful tannins. A lightly savory note threads through the wine, adding complexity. This has very dark fruit with vanilla and wood spice aromas. The palate is integrated and velvety with baking spice, toast, smoky red cherry and other dark fruits. This is very appealing and has brightness with depth and elegance. This vegan wine would make an excellent gift.

Aromas of stewed and fresh blackberries, red and purple flowers, vanilla, black pepper and minerality greet you on the nose. This is medium to fuller bodied with fresh blackberry, black cap raspberry, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco and graphite. Lifting acidity and integrated acidity make this a wonderful food wine.

Lively notes of mixed currants and smoke that show on the palate as well. There is more blackberry seeds and blueberry on the palate but the tartness from the gamay balances the medium tannin structure. Additional flavors of earth, chocolate and dark fruit develops with some natural rusticity. There is some fresh minerality that threads throughout this wine and makes this wine very fresh.

Tobacco, anise, earth and garrigue all come through in this wine. Over indulge with the aromas of red currants, smoke, baking spice, raspberry and violets. This is medium plus in body with a full and long finish with some warming qualities and medium plus tannins. This wine is still young but clearly exhibits some age worthy qualities.

This mildly earthy wine is reminiscent of a warm forest day with wild berries and plums. Forest floor, old oak spiciness, pressed violets and raspberry can be found in the scent. The palate has ripe black plum and cherry with garrigue, graphite and minerality. This wine has good complexity and long finish.

This is a delicious approachable blend with scents of forest floor, cranberry, raspberry and wood notes. The palate is medium with medium acidity. The flavors are blackberry, plum with the fruit being up front and generous with a soft finish.

A fragrant wine with lavender, blackberry, raspberry, warm earth, and touch of wild herbs. The flavors have a good amount of classic Grenache that is fleshy and darkly fruited with grippy structured tannins that give a root like quality. There are some mineral notes and black olives with red raspberry on the end.

Notes of blackcurrants, plums, Provençal herbs, tomato leaf and balsamic are found on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, with amazing black fruits and spice, the purity of its Mediterranean upbringing is evident in this wine. The aromas translate into similar flavors on the palate, which is supple and wonderfully integrated.

This co-fermented Chateauneuf is complex and appealing with scents reminiscent of potpourri, spiced plum, cassis and forest floor. There is something sleek and slick about the aromas, like fine chocolate and wild animal; think truffle. An opulent palate that is lovely, with black tea, bergamot, wild fruit of the forest, raisin, olives and forest floor. This is texturally attractive and nicely balanced with medium acidity, well managed tannins and a long finish.

Rich, black-fruited aromas on the nose include touches of plum, blackberry, and black cherry, along with warm earth, cedar and leather. Nicely concentrated on the palate with more dark berries echoing the aromas and refreshing acidity to keep it lifted, followed by fine tannins

This dry rosé is perfectly balanced, soft, and thirst quenching. Fresh berries, especially strawberry,with a touch of floral character and peach are well-balanced by fresh acid and minerality on the palate.The wine is dry with strawberries lingering on the finish.

Ripe strawberry and watermelon aromas with a touch of confection and citrus greet you on the nose. The palate is soft and rounded with lovely, succulent strawberry-white raspberry notes. This is dry, fresh and comes in a liter bottle -- what more could you want for summer?

Aromatically this is strawberry, white raspberry, talc with some garrigue. The palate is medium bodied, ripe but savory with integrated flavors of smoke, soft white chocolate and white cherry. The palate is complex and continue to give black cherry, pepper, fresh basil and forest floor.

Clean, invigorating notes of silex on the nose showcase the limestone soils of the Rouanne vineyard. The aromas and flavors develop as the wines opens to reveal wild strawberry and fresh thyme – a complex and flavorful sparkling rosé.
