Aromas are predominantly red fruited–cherry, raspberry, plum and spice box. There’s some fresh fig as well as spiced sweet cherry. This is a seamlessly textured wine with fine tannins. It’s medium-plus in weight with raspberry and raspberry coulis along with bramble; juicy acidity keeps it balanced.

Les Hérétiques is a rustic wine, speaking strongly of its terroir. The nose offers spice, cedar, and black cherry fruit, and touches of iron/earth. The tannins are quite present but well-integrated with more black cherries, spice and a lingering meaty quality.

Aromas of mulberry, berry compote and savory raspberries are appealing. It is medium to full-bodied with cherries and plums, spice, kirsch, thyme and chocolate notes adding complexity. This wine is smooth and quaffable with a long, refreshing finish.

This sustainable wine invites you with aromas of cooked plums and black cherry candy along with exotic spices and an inviting smokiness. The palate is just over medium weight with plum, blackberry and black cherry fruits of a pure, fresh and attractively dense nature. Aromas are complex, with smoke, raspberry compote, red currant candy, chocolate, and spice. The palate offers a variety of red berry fruit, lightly cooked so it releases juice. Black cherry and cassis are also present, along with toast, spice, and mineral notes. The wine is pure, with well integrated tannins and acidity, and deft on its feet for one so large. Full bodied with a long finish.

One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. The estate has been in the Peyraud family for generations and has a long, storied history that’s beautifully documented in Kermit Lynch’s newsletters and book, Adventures on the Wine Route (an absolute must read for any wine lover). This medium-plus bodied wine shows nice ripeness and yet it also has freshness. There are notes of raspberry, cherry, cinnamon, garrigue and spices, and some acidity keeps it lifted. One can drink it now or enjoy it until 2030.

Smoky black fruit aromas lead to a well-balanced set of deliciously savory and fruity flavors. Blackberries and cooked plums join spice box and black pepper on a bigger frame with supple tannins and a persistent finish.

Raspberry, strawberry and red cherry with some garrigue. The palate is medium bodied but ripe and savory with soft dark chocolate, integrated smoke and some black pepper.

An aromatic wine with lots of complexity, floral with pressed roses, spiced plum, licorice and blackberry. The palate shows come baking spice notes such as clove, licorice, and black pepper. More toast and macerated red cherries to finish. It is medium plus and drinking well now.  This is a classic, example of Chateauneuf. 

The 2019 Sinister Hand displays spicy, dark, and savory characteristics. The exuberant nose has raspberry aromas with a hint of vanilla, while the lively palate has a soft juicy texture and a well-balanced acidity. Chewy tannins, black cherry, and a hint of toasty French oak round out the vibrant finish.

In this bottling from Yves Leccia, the French import Grenache—called Elegante in Corsica—takes center stage, offering fragrant notes of lavender spiced with balmy Mediterranean brush. A splash of the indigenous Niellucciu completes the blend, adding some muscle to this savory, floral red whose sunny island flavors come into focus when slightly chilled.

Medium aromatic with notes of red raspberry, black cherry, pepper and tobacco. The palate is medium-weight with red raspberry, tart black currants, rosemary and lightly savory notes. This is very quaffable and not as big as some of its Spanish counterparts; consider giving it a light chill.

Earthy aromas include bramble, mineral, garrigue, smoke, berry coolis and plum.  The palate is medium-plus in body with nice ripeness but not too heavy or overoaked. Flavors of red cherry and black currant, a touch of underbrush and black fruit supported by sleek slightly grippy tannins and juicy acidity lingering on the finish. This smells like an old underground cellar with still some tartness and violets. This wine would be an excellent gift or an alternative to a quality Cotes du Rhone.

This wine begins with dark, steeped berries encircling fireplace and pine forest aromas. in the mouth, it is creamy and full-flavored, exhibiting wild black currant and dark chocolate flavors mixed with sweet tobacco and black cherry candy. The wine envelops your whole mouth and glides down the throat, leaving a hint of smoke and mocha. First rate and drinking beautifully now, but will age through 2028.

This is a nice value with great texture and ripe balance with flavors of blackberry and black currants with a long finish. Vibrant, with a fresh core of cherry and cassis notes backed by anise, apple wood and garrigue hints through the finish. Nice underlying juiciness throughout. Quite aromatic with aromas of cherry, grenadine, pomegranate, flowers, star anise and light toast. The palate shows flavors of dark-raspberry, boysenberry, roasted fennel and violets. It is silky, fresh, medium-plus in body with a long finish.

This wine gives mostly red fruits on the nose -- pomegranate, strawberry and raspberry, along with vanilla. It is medium plus in weight and quite rich with ultra-soft tannins that show it is in its prime drinking stage now. There are flavors of red cherry, raspberry, plum, strawberry coulis, licorice, vanilla and a touch of sassafras. You'll be talking about its texture though -- the integrated acidity and seamless tannins are a joy. What a value!

On the nose this wine has Moroccan spices, wet stone, smoke and black fruit like plum and blackberry. On the palate, there are rich blackcurrants and black cherries with dried herbs and garrigue along with notes of spice, kirsch, black licorice and bitter chocolate. This red is dense, with beautiful structure, velvety tannins and good length.

This mildly earthy wine is reminiscent of a warm forest day with wild berries and plums. Forest floor, old oak spiciness, pressed violets and raspberry can be found in the scent. The palate has ripe black plum and cherry with garrigue, graphite and minerality. This wine has good complexity and long finish.

Lively notes of mixed currants and smoke that show on the palate as well. There is more blackberry seeds and blueberry on the palate but the tartness from the gamay balances the medium tannin structure. Additional flavors of earth, chocolate and dark fruit develops with some natural rusticity. There is some fresh minerality that threads throughout this wine and makes this wine very fresh.

Tobacco, anise, earth and garrigue all come through in this wine. Over indulge with the aromas of red currants, smoke, baking spice, raspberry and violets. This is medium plus in body with a full and long finish with some warming qualities and medium plus tannins. This wine is still young but clearly exhibits some age worthy qualities.

A medium bouquet of red currants and cherries with cooked or concentrated raspberries and earth. The palate is sleek and supple with cherry, soil and plum. This wine is super fresh and yet deep with very fine and complex tannins and structure.

The nose is fruit forward with ripe black cherry, strawberry coulis and spiced raspberry notes. On the palate, this wine is extremely supple and seamless, yet has structuring acidity. The ripeness continues with black cherry and black cap raspberry fruit. A gulpable, soft and plus red in a liter bottle!

Dark stewed fruit of  blackberry and black currant introduce the wine. Fresh, ripe, and lightly smoky black fruits are balanced with a nice backbone of medium-plus acidity and touches of earth. Very aromatic with red fruit, including red currants and other berries along with hints of high-quality maraschino cherries, light forest floor. The palate is similar with more ripe raspberry, beautiful minerality and moderate acidity. The texture is ripe and soft with medium plus acidity and a longer finish.

This co-fermented Chateauneuf is complex and appealing with scents reminiscent of potpourri, spiced plum, cassis and forest floor. There is something sleek and slick about the aromas, like fine chocolate and wild animal; think truffle. An opulent palate that is lovely, with black tea, bergamot, wild fruit of the forest, raisin, olives and forest floor. This is texturally attractive and nicely balanced with medium acidity, well managed tannins and a long finish.

Notes of stewed dark berries and graphite unfold from the glass. Round tannins balance nicely with medium acidity while rich, ripe dark berries mingle seamlessly on the palate with coffee and dark chocolate flavors. Hints of graphite/pencil lead linger through the finish and add depth to the wine.

Rich, black-fruited aromas on the nose include touches of plum, blackberry, and black cherry, along with warm earth, cedar and leather. Nicely concentrated on the palate with more dark berries echoing the aromas and refreshing acidity to keep it lifted, followed by fine tannins

Notes of blackcurrants, plums, Provençal herbs, tomato leaf and balsamic are found on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, with amazing black fruits and spice, the purity of its Mediterranean upbringing is evident in this wine. The aromas translate into similar flavors on the palate, which is supple and wonderfully integrated.

A fragrant wine with lavender, blackberry, raspberry, warm earth, and touch of wild herbs. The flavors have a good amount of classic Grenache that is fleshy and darkly fruited with grippy structured tannins that give a root like quality. There are some mineral notes and black olives with red raspberry on the end.

An interesting wine with graphite, iron and high toned earth. The fruit has plum, black cherry, and prune with some minerality and chocolate. The palate is medium plus in body with rich flavor that develops and lingers as you enjoy it's taste. This wine delivers espresso, truffle or forest floor, black cherry, and some bitter chocolate. This wine is so pleasant with a very long finish with slightly grippy but rounded tannins.

Aromatically this is strawberry, white raspberry, talc with some garrigue. The palate is medium bodied, ripe but savory with integrated flavors of smoke, soft white chocolate and white cherry. The palate is complex and continue to give black cherry, pepper, fresh basil and forest floor.
