Between medium and full-bodied, this offering from Southeastern Spain is chock full of mulberries, cooked plums and raspberries with a sprinkling of cocoa. Baking spices and a hint of underbrush linger through the finish.

"92 POINTS - The 2014 El Nido is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon from 35-year-old vines and the rest Monastrell from ancient vines fermented in the same way as Clio, starting in open-top, 4,500-liter stainless steel tanks with neutral yeasts and finishing in brand-new French and American oak barrels, where it also goes through malolactic. Aging in those new barrels lasted for almost two years. This is always quite ripe, and the Cabernet never shows any pyrazines or herbal aromas; there are plums, blackberries and a balsamic touch. This is full-bodied, powerful, concentrated and generously oaked. Fragrant notes of black caps and violets on the nose. The palate has nice richness and concentration with macerated raspberry and cherry flavors. The wine is savory and intense with baking spice and anise lingering on the longer finish.

The 2019 Sinister Hand displays spicy, dark, and savory characteristics. The exuberant nose has raspberry aromas with a hint of vanilla, while the lively palate has a soft juicy texture and a well-balanced acidity. Chewy tannins, black cherry, and a hint of toasty French oak round out the vibrant finish.

Dark stewed fruit of  blackberry and black currant introduce the wine. Fresh, ripe, and lightly smoky black fruits are balanced with a nice backbone of medium-plus acidity and touches of earth. Raspberry and plum notes emerge with time. This is medium bodied and lifted, making it a flavorful summer red.

This is a nice value with great texture and ripe balance with flavors of blackberry and black currants with a long finish. Vibrant, with a fresh core of cherry and cassis notes backed by anise, apple wood and garrigue hints through the finish. Nice underlying juiciness throughout. One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. Aromas of warm earth, black currant, and dark cherries invite you in to this Rhone classic. Fuller-bodied with refreshing acidity to balance on the palate. More ripe dark fruit notes include cooked berries and some savory warm earth flavors with touches of dark chocolate and smoke.

Tobacco, anise, earth and garrigue all come through in this wine. Over indulge with the aromas of red currants, smoke, baking spice, raspberry and violets. This is medium plus in body with a full and long finish with some warming qualities and medium plus tannins. This wine is still young but clearly exhibits some age worthy qualities.

This is a rich black-fruited Monastrell with concentrated aromas of elderberry, black plum, cassis, and a touch of licorice. The palate offers blackberry pie and is almost port-like in richness, yet touches of tomato leaf and coffee linger on the longer finish.

This co-fermented Chateauneuf is complex and appealing with scents reminiscent of potpourri, spiced plum, cassis and pressed flowers. There is a seduction about the aromas, like fine chocolate and wild animal; think truffle. It offers an opulent palate that is lovely, with blueberry, black currant, cooked plums, spice box, black tea, violets and forest floor. There are also hints of minerality and light toast joining with the ripe fruit. This full-bodied, flavorful red still offers "relief" and a sense of freshness which creates balance in the wine. It is texturally attractive and structurally balanced with medium acidity, well managed tannins and a long finish. 

The color is translucent ruby. The nose is generous, with fresh cherry, raspberry and some spices. The palate is round, fresh, crunchy, with a supple and delectable substance, bursting with fruit. The deliciously naughty grip on the finish doesn't help matters: the fruit and freshness go up a notch, as does the gluttony.

Pretty aromas of red fruit and flowers, think of red currants, pomegranates, red cherries and violets. It has medium weight on the plate with medium acidity. The flavors are similar to the nose with pomegranate dominating with additional dried herbs, lavender and raspberry.

The nose and palate of this medium- to fuller-bodied wine are similar: Brandied fruit (blackberries, black cap raspberries, cherries), rose petal, grilled nuts, garrigue, and pepper. Medium in both acid and tannin, it is supple, fresh, and easy to drink.

Soft and delicate aromas of earth and clay mixed with cherry, raspberry and dried herbs. On the palate the wine is dry and a touch savory with citrus, raspberry, and mineral notes. Concentrated with balancing acidity and a persistent finish.

Clean, invigorating notes of silex on the nose showcase the limestone soils of the Rouanne vineyard. The aromas and flavors develop as the wines opens to reveal wild strawberry and fresh thyme – a complex and flavorful sparkling rosé.
