Flor de Morca Garnacha 2021
This is essentially the Chateau Maris Les Planels (Syrah-based wine) without any sulfites added. (it says "sans souffre" on the neck of the capsule). The name means "to know how to age." In actuality, it is a wine that one should probably drink within 3 years of vintage since it has no sulfite protection, but boy, is it drinking beautifully. Medium plus body, rich and ripe, velvety, meaty, with savory undertones. There's nothing overripe here, yet it's seamlessly saturated. If you're into "natural wine," here's a superior example.

Olarra Anares Reserva Rioja 2015
This wine gives mostly red fruits on the nose -- pomegranate, strawberry and raspberry, along with vanilla. It is medium plus in weight and quite rich with ultra-soft tannins that show it is in its prime drinking stage now. There are flavors of red cherry, raspberry, plum, strawberry coulis, licorice, vanilla and a touch of sassafras. You'll be talking about its texture though -- the integrated acidity and seamless tannins are a joy. What a value!

A champagne method style cider with  a moderate bouquet of blueberry and blackcurrant and blackcap notes, yellow soft baked apple and some lime zest. The palate is semi-dry and crisp with soft tannin structure there is some ripe peach flavor and cherry pit. There is a distinctive crab apple grip to the finish and is tart and approachable.
