Tasting Notes
This estate-grown Cayuga Lake Pinot Gris begins with aromas of stone fruits, both fresh and baked.  The palate is medium to full in weight, creamy and rich with ripe orchard fruits like pear, apple and apricot. The wine is just barely dry with bright acidity to balance it.
The grapes for this wine were harvested, crushed, de-stemmed, pressed to tank, and settled for 2 days at 40F after pressing. After being racked off the lees, the juice was fermented in stainless steel. Sheldrake Point Vineyards is located on the west side of Cayuga Lake. The winery has 44 acres planted with vinifera grapes.  It was originally an old, abandoned dairy farm until Chuck Tauck started the vineyards and winery in 1997.
