Grapes for this wine come from vines planted in an alluvial, old river bed, with sandy gravel, limo and limestone. Destemmed grapes go into stainless steel vats, and are fermented in temperature controlled tanks with commercial yeast with very little extraction. The wine is aged for eleven months in 40% old French barrels and 60% in stainless steel vats.

Pie de Palo Malbec 2022
This is a very aromatic wine, with fresh dark cherries and plums and a touch of pepper and bark. In the mouth, this is juicy, fruity (raspberries, figs, plums), and well structured by round tannins. It is complex, with a touch of savory dried herbs and woodsy notes, hints of coffee and chocolate, and a great mouthfeel. It’s definitely food-oriented, though it is also pleasurable alone.

Odfjell Capitulo Red 2021
This non-vintage red blend combines fruit-driven young wine with more mature reds. It begins with aromas of cooked red and black fruits, toast, tobacco, spices, roasted red peppers and herbs. It then  shows off well integrated cherry and currant fruit, toast, cinnamon, baking spices, sweet tobacco leaf and cigar box on the palate. This is ripe, but not jammy. It's just over medium weight with moderate acidity. A very good value!

Mendel Malbec 2021
100% Malbec (aka Auxerrois locally). The fruit for the entry-level Pur comes from seven different Combel sites totalling 8.5 hectares around their home village of Cournou, which lies on the Causse Calcaire, a limestone plateau in Cahors at 320-350 meters in elevation. Planted on clay-limestone soils, the vines are certified-organic (in conversion to biodynamic farming), average 30 years old and are kept to a modest 40 hl/ha yield. The bunches are hand-harvested and mainly destemmed but with up to 20% directly pressed as whole clusters; the juice ferments at cool temperatures with indigenous yeasts in cement and steel tanks with around two week of maceration.
