The 2019 Sinister Hand displays spicy, dark, and savory characteristics. The exuberant nose has raspberry aromas with a hint of vanilla, while the lively palate has a soft juicy texture and a well-balanced acidity. Chewy tannins, black cherry, and a hint of toasty French oak round out the vibrant finish.

Aromas of blackberrry jam, black currant skin, bramble and scorched earth cue up this wine. The palate offers black fruit, integrated smokiness, dark chocolate and savory notes. It is medium plus in body with a few years’ age evident in its silky tannins.

Fragrant notes of black caps and violets on the nose. The palate has nice richness and concentration with macerated raspberry and cherry flavors. The wine is savory and intense with baking spice and anise lingering on the longer finish.

Ripe black and red fruit including plum and raspberry on the palate. Tannins are medium plus but well integrated, showing aging potential. Fruit, bramble, and spice notes mingle to create a well-balanced wine.

One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. The estate has been in the Peyraud family for generations and has a long, storied history that’s beautifully documented in Kermit Lynch’s newsletters and book, Adventures on the Wine Route (an absolute must read for any wine lover). Dark stewed fruit of  blackberry and black currant introduce the wine. Fresh, ripe, and lightly smoky black fruits are balanced with a nice backbone of medium-plus acidity and touches of earth. Raspberry and plum notes emerge with time. This is medium bodied and lifted, making it a flavorful summer red.

The color is translucent ruby. The nose is generous, with fresh cherry, raspberry and some spices. The palate is round, fresh, crunchy, with a supple and delectable substance, bursting with fruit. The deliciously naughty grip on the finish doesn't help matters: the fruit and freshness go up a notch, as does the gluttony.

Very dark, dense, purple color. Aromas of dark plums, spice, saturated dark fruit (plum, black cherry, wild berry, mulberry). The palate is well structured with integrated tannins and fruit. There’s a somewhat rustic, animal quality here, along with spicy, almost peppery rich, ripe, firm, black berry/currant fruit and touches of leather. Not a shy wine, dense but not heavy, it is medium plus in body and length.

Aromas of raspberry, wild herbs, dried flowers, and a hint of smoke. This lovely Cotes Du Rhone boasts a medium body with plum, raspberry, strawberries, and dried herbs. The soft tannins, minerality, and juicy acidity make this wine very quaffable! A stellar value.

Tobacco, anise, earth and garrigue all come through in this wine. Over indulge with the aromas of red currants, smoke, baking spice, raspberry and violets. This is medium plus in body with a full and long finish with some warming qualities and medium plus tannins. This wine is still young but clearly exhibits some age worthy qualities.

This dry rosé is perfectly balanced, soft, and thirst quenching. Fresh red berries, especially strawberry, a touch of floral character and peach are well-balanced by fresh acid and minerality on the palate. The wine is dry with strawberries lingering on the finish.

Classic strawberry flavors with a touch of pleasant bitterness lead to notes of watermelon, vanilla and a whisper of salinity on the finish.

This Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence Rosé echoes white fruits and pêche de vigne but also delicate herbal notes of tarragon, bergamot and lime flower. Refreshing on the palate, lifted by a tang of fresh ginger.

Strawberry, cherry, and watermelon with a touch of tangerine greet you on the nose. The palate is dense and rounded with raspberry, strawberry, and a hint of the savory. This is a dry, fresh and mouth-filling wine and comes in a liter bottle -- what more could you want for summer?

Soft and delicate aromas of earth and clay mixed with cherry, raspberry and dried herbs. On the palate the wine is dry and a touch savory with citrus, raspberry, and mineral notes. Concentrated with balancing acidity and a persistent finish.
