The nose offers black cherry and blueberry fruit, black olive, spice and touches of iron/earth. Dark fruit continues on the palate with present, but well-integrated tannins, touches of bittersweet chocolate and a juicy black cherry linger on the finish.

Old world aromas of barn, worn leather, freshly cut hay with dark forest fruits, like plum, black cherry and blackberry. The palate offers flavors of spiced dark fruit, cedar, and cocoa, around fine tannins, medium plus acidity and a rounded finish.

One of the leading domaines in Bandol, Domaine Tempier is, without a doubt, the most visible producer from the appellation in the U.S. marketplace today. I think this is well-deserved (and a good thing for Bandol), as the wines are at the top of the hierarchy in terms of quality. The estate has been in the Peyraud family for generations and has a long, storied history that’s beautifully documented in Kermit Lynch’s newsletters and book, Adventures on the Wine Route (an absolute must read for any wine lover). This is a very aromatic wine, with fresh dark cherries and plums and a touch of pepper and bark. In the mouth, this is juicy, fruity (raspberries, figs, plums), and well structured by round tannins. It is complex, with a touch of savory dried herbs and woodsy notes, hints of coffee and chocolate, and a great mouthfeel. It’s definitely food-oriented, though it is also pleasurable alone.

"A rich purple in the glass. The complex nose features nuanced aromas ranging from blackberry to blueberry and currant with hints of cedar and spice. In the mouth, it’s juicy with a grippy texture and delicate, concentrated but relaxed tannins before the lengthy finish. It seems that the healthy biodynamic vineyard was able to withstand the warmth of 2020. An extremely well-made wine that handled the conditions with aplomb."

Aromatic, sweet and fruity with strawberry preserves, grapes, and minerality. The texture is balanced and restrained for Rasteau with potpourri, minerality and red cherries.  This wine’s restraint and supple tannins make it an ideal food partner.

Ripe raspberries and strawberries greet you on the nose with dark, ripe fruit and a savory hint following. The strawberries continue on the palate, fresh and rich, supported by silky, soft tannins and a little white pepper finish. Totally crushable.

Medium plus in body with noticeably dry tannins and savory Mediterranean richness. Floral tones recall more northerly wines. It’s chewy, vigorous, and refreshing, with notes of black olive, wild herbs, and brambly fruit, supported by earthier forest floor, baking spice and mineral notes.
