WINE INFORMATION

In the mid 1880’s Pascual Toso set out for Argentina from his home town in Canale D’Alba in the Piedmont region of Italy. He had been closely involved in winemaking at his family estate back in Italy.  Pascual soon discovered the promising future of winemaking in Mendoza and founded the winery in 1890. At the beginning of the 20th century, he decided to expand his business and acquired vineyards in the Maipu valley.

Within his estate, he built another winery, “Las Barrancas” (small canyon) which is dedicated to producing and growing the finest grapes. The land is uneven and the terrior spans between bare rock and deep soil.  The vineyards are 750 meters above sea level so with high altitude, warm days and crisp nights with low humidity the vineyards receive excellent growing conditions.

The hand harvested grapes for Pascual Toso Estate come from 15-25 year old vines.  The vineyard has a high trellising system and is watered by drip irrigation. The water for irrigation comes from the snow of the Andes mountain trough the main River of the county, “Mendoza River”.  Forty percent of the wine is matured in American oak barrels for eight months  providing the wine with structure. Prior to bottling, the wine is filtered.
