This is a very clean, focused and lean wine. The aromas and flavors offer a lot of terroir driven minerality, with wet stone, precise acidity and lemon pith. The palate has medium plus acid and a light body with honeysuckle, grapefruit and shale.
This small winery (2250-case total production in 2012) is owned by winemaker Paul Brock (former winemaker at Lamoreaux Landing) and his wife Shannon Brock (former head of wine education at the Wine and Culinary Institute in Canandaigua). The Brocks purchased Silver Thread from organically-inclined Richard Fiegiel in August 2011. They passionately run a fine-wine estate dedicated to revealing the outstanding terroir of Seneca Lake.
This wine is hand harvested, native yeast fermented and minimal intervention.
