WINE INFORMATION
Podere Scopetone is a small estate with miniscule production of Brunello (375 cases) and Rosso di Montalcino (325 cases) along with this IGT Rosso di Toscana (800 cases). The estate was well respected until one of its owners, Federico Abbarci fell ill and the vineyards suffered neglect. In 2009, his wife (Angela Corioni) partnered with a young and ambitious couple (Loredana Tanganelli and Antonio Brandi) to restore the vineyards and reimagine the winery.
Scopetone farms organically and was certified in 2019. To control diseases and insects, Scopetone uses low environmental impact products including organic and mineral-based fertilizers and sulfur and copper-based products. No herbicides are used. Depending on the period of the year, grass cover is left on the rows between the vines. Low doses of SO2 are used to preserve the wines.
The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel and then aged three months in bottle before release.
