Tasting Notes

The aromas are bursting with black raspberry and macerated plum with some bittersweet chocolate. There is a tough of bark as well.  The palate is medium with medium refreshing acid, with youthful tannins. Further flavors of tobacco, graphite, black currant, boysenberry. This wine becomes more joined with some air.


Wine & Soul was created in 2001, when husband-and-wife winemakers Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges started their journey to make warm personal wines that symbolized their lives with neither vineyards nor a winery. Jorge is the 5th generation of a long line of wine producers and winery owners. In 2009 they inherited  “Quinta da Manoella”, an estate with a history that dates back to 1838. The Quinta da Manoella vineyards located in Vale do Pinhão, are over a hundred years old, bordered on both sides by young vineyards that are 30 years old some even more recent. With a total of 60 hectares of land, only 20 hectares are vineyards, the vineyard is surrounded by a beautiful Mediterranean forest that creates a unique microclimate and environment.

Manoella Tinto is a blend of four different Portuguese grapes from the Quinta da Manoella estate. The vines were planted in 1973. The grapes are fermented for 8 days at low temperatures and then foot-trodden in open granite lagares. The wine is aged for 16 months in used (third use) French barriques.
