Reflecting the 2021 vintage (did you hear about the frosts in Burgundy?), this wine is light to medium weight, fresh and delicate with crisp acidity and notes of cranberry, tart red cherry and raspberry. Clean, pure and finely-tannined, this is a refreshing, food-friendly quaffer. Shift your lens to pre-climate-change Nouveau and you'll be transported back in time!
Domaine des Marrans was founded in 1970 in the village of Fleurie, in the northern-most section of Beaujolais. Today, the owner and winemaker is the young and and talented Mathieu Melinand, who joined the family domaine in 2008.
Harvest is done exclusively by hand, using small crates to minimize oxidation. In the cellar, vinification is proudly old school with semicarbonic maceration of whole clusters, indigenous yeast, and the use of cement for the aging.
