Ruby red color with aromas and flavors of red fruits (cherry, strawberry and plum). This wine is definitely Italian, with fresh and lively red fruit, cedar, and minerals. Medium in body and acidity, it will be a perfect partner at the table!
WINE INFORMATION
The Poggiali family, owners of the Fattoria di Felsina winery since the 1960’s in the Chianti region, are originally from Ravenna in Emilia-Romagna. They have had the intention for some time of having a winery in their native land. That dream was finally realized in 2009 when they bought Podere La Berta in the town of Brisighella. The estate was previously owned by Marcello Giovannini through whose work La Berta gained a reputation as one of the top wine producers in the region. The Poggiali brothers, Giovanni, Nicolò and Domenico, strive to enhance the Podere La Berta, combining careful attention to the wines while continuing to promote the territory and identity of Romagna, bringing its values into the future. The winery is devoted local grape varieties from Romagna - Sangiovese, Albana, Trebbiano and Cagnina Pagadebit.
The vineyards at La Berta are farmed organically. The soil here is a mix of clay and sand rich in marine deposit. The vines are planted in the foothills of the Appenine Mountains with influence from the Adriatic as well.
The grapes for this wine come all from La Berta’s estate. They are hand-harvested in September, and the different lots fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. After 4 months in tank, the final blend is made and the wine is aged for one more month in the bottle before it gets released.
