Tasting Notes

Quite aromatic, with rich black fruits—as well as black pepper, leather and smoke.  The palate is generous, soft but well-structured, with black fruit, and tobacco notes. It is medium plus in body with a long finish.

WINE INFORMATION

Don Maximiliano Errázuriz founded Viña Errázuriz in 1870 in the Aconcagua Valley, 65 miles north of the capital, Santiago. With his philosophy on hand “from the best land, the best wine” he was the first one to plant French clone varietals in the Aconcagua Valley.

Grapes for the 2018 Errazuriz Max Carmenere Reserva come from specific plots within the Maximiliano vineyard, where soils have a silty texture and are of colluvial origin.

After harvesting the grapes by hand, they are sorted, crushed, and deposited into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation with three daily pumpovers. Wine remained on its skins for optimal extraction of tannins and color with a maceration time varying from 7 to 39 days, depending on the development of each individual lot. The final blend was then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which were new.
