This very aromatic wine offers lightly bitter ginger skin and lychee. It smells as though it might be too much of a good thing, but it isn’t. Lovely flavors of citrus, ginger, lychee, and orange blossom join clean acidity in this medium-bodied wine with a longer finish.
WINE INFORMATION
Located in Nemea, Greece, Domaine Skouras was founded in 1986 by Greek oenologist George Skouras. After training at University of Dijon, in Burgundy, France, George gained winemaking experience throughout France, Italy and Greece. He eventually settled down, moving back to his homeland in the late 1980s to produce wines using indigenous Greek varieties as well as international ones.
Nemea is a region rich with wine history. Archeological excavations have revealed evidence of winemaking in there from more than 3500 years ago!
Fruit for this blend was grown at two different sites: Roditis grapes came from 25+ year old vines in the Peloponnese planted at an elevation of 1,476ft, and Moscofilero grapes were grown at an altitude of 2,460ft in Mantinia on vines over 20 years old. Both grapes were vinified separately in stainless steel tanks before they aged for a short time on the fine lees.
