WINE INFORMATION
Napa Valley AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in Napa County, California. Considered one of the top wine regions in the United States, this new world region has a wine history dating back to the 19th century. Today the AVA contains 15 sub-appellations with AVA status. While some winemakers produce wines from the specific AVAs within the valley, the majority choose to blend their wines using a mix of wine grapes grown on the valley floor and the surrounding hillsides.
BonAnno (which means “good year” in Italian) was started winemaker Matt BonAnno and his wife in 2004 with the vision of creating a top quality Napa Cab for today's wine enthusiasts. Matt Bonanno works with renowned winemaker Jim Milone to source and craft the BonAnno and Matthew Fritz wines. Jim grew up in the vineyards of his grandfather’s winery in Mendocino County and currently lives in Northern Sonoma. His excellent relationships with wineries and growers throughout the Northern California are invaluable to our vineyard sourcing. They source grapes and wine from artisan growers to get the highest quality at the best price. Then carefully handcraft each bottle at one of Napa's top cab houses to create the unique BonAnno style that is consistently fruit driven, juicy and well structured, enjoyable upon release.
The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit for this vintage was sourced from several prime valley floor vineyards from within the Rutherford bench, St. Helena, Yountville, Calistoga and Oak Knoll districts. In addition, the Merlot was sourced from Carneros. The wine spends 20 months in French oak barrels.
Northern California’s 2019 season was near perfect and considered classic.
