Medium aromatics include a distinct minerality with citrus, pear, and starfruit. The palate is clean and bright with fresh minerality, apricot and light floral notes. The finish is long with a touch of herbs and lingering peach flavors.
Gavi was the first white wine region to achieve DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita - controlled designation of guaranteed origin) status in Piedmont in 1998. Lorenzo Picollo founded his winery in 1945; his son, Ernesto, now makes the wine and his grandson Gianlorenzo manages the vineyards.
This region of rolling hills is influenced by the Ligurian Sea and is characterized by sand and clay soils. The fruit is all estate-grown with an average vine age of 10 years. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and underwent partial malolactic fermentation.
