Precise orchard fruits abound in the glass; golden delicious apple, spiced lemon curd, ripe apricot and hint of vanilla. The wine is nicely balanced with bright acidity and a satiating finish. With air, it grows more powerful and dense, giving richer flavors like peaches and cream.
"The 2019 Viré-Clessé Quintaine, now in bottle for a year, has a lovely candle wax and dried apricot scented bouquet, maybe showing a little more linearity than last year, white peach emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a tangy marmalade-tinged entry, fine weight with a welcome bitter lemon rind note perking up the ginger-tinged finish. " -Neal Martin, Vinous Media, June 2022
