WINE INFORMATION

Grupo Bodegas Olarra owns three wineries, one of which is Bodegas Olarra in La Rioja. Bodegas Olarra prides itself in the design of the winery by architect Juan Antonio Ridruejo in 1973. One of its most identifying features it is the roof that crowns the barrel cellar, made up of 111 hexagonal domes arranged in this way to prevent sharp changes of temperature in order to allow these long aged wines to do so in the most natural and stable way possible.

The third generation of the Bodegas Olarra family is made up of three committed young winemakers whose memories, training and dedication are totally wrapped up in the production of great Rioja wines.

Pedro Limousin Ucín is responsible for the area of sales, Marcial Zapke Ucín performs his duties in the area of administration and Luis Limousin Ucín, together with Javier Martínez de Salinas (one of the best winemakers in Spain) makes the perfect tandem in the areas of 21st century viticulture and oenology.

Most of the fruit used to make this wine comes from la Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. After fermentation the wine was racked several times in large American oak barrels before being left to age for 18 months in oak. After bottling, the wine was aged further in the bottle to meet the Reserva designation in Spain and to help the wine develop before its release to the market.
