The aromas to this wine are darker in profile with dark cherry, black currant, prune, black olive, licorice and cassis. The palate echoes the nose and delivers medium plus body, medium acidity with finely textured tannins that became more integrated as it breathed and delivering a generous mouthfeel.
WINE INFORMATION
In 1890 the first generation of the Fernández de Manzanos family established a small winery in Azagra. It had the capacity of 50,000 liters of wine. For more than a century it has remained a family practice. In the 40’s they built a new facility to further increased capacity. In the 1990s, Víctor Fernández de Manzanos Pastor, from the fourth generation, joined the family business after studying Chemical Engineering and obtaining a Master’s Degree in Viticulture and Enology by the Technical School of Agronomic Engineering from Madrid Polytechnical University . Víctor was the first member of the family with training in viticulture and enology. Víctor then built the Winery Marqués de Butrago and constructed Bodegas Manzanos Azagra. When Victor suddenly passed away his eldest son Victor Fernandez became the new CEO at age 20. Victor Fernandez came from a degree in business management from London and immediately began modernizing and soon renovated buildings and wine making facilities that had been unused for generations.
