Tasting Notes

Aromas are tropical with gooseberries and passionfruit. Medium-weight and round with juicy acid to balance. Flavors echo the aromas along with ripe fruits such as lychee, melon, pineapple and citrus. Lightly floral/herbal as well. Despite the tropical notes, this stays refreshing and light all the way to the long finish.

WINE INFORMATION

The region in Bordeaux called Entre-deux-mers is situated between the rivers Garonne and Dordogne, a reference to the two rivers that join to create “tides or seas, known as  mers”. Entre-Deux-Mers is known for its elevated hillside vineyards with a slightly cooler climate and well-draining soil.??

Chateau Nicot is located in Ecoussans, a town on the right bank of the River Garonne, roughly 21 miles south of Bordeaux. In 1870, the Dubourg family, in love with the culture of Bordeaux wines decided to establish a chateau. The 1960s marked the arrival of Bernard and his wife Nadine, the 7th Generation of the Dubourg family. They brought fresh ideas to the management of the property by modernizing winemaking techniques while preserving the identity of each wine. In 1985, Château Haut-Pasquet, a neighboring property to Château Nicot, joined the estate. They continued to acquire vineyards in the prestigious appellations of Saint Émilion Grand Cru and Sauternes along with Château Maurins and Château Landion were then added to the range of wines from the Dubourg vineyards.

In 1995, their son Benoit joined them to perpetuate the family history born 150 years ago. Today he is the manager of Vignobles Dubourg. Benoit is responsible for the cellars and the vineyard, managing the 83 hectares of the property spread over 9 appellation areas, and directs the design of the 465,000 bottles that come out of the cellars each year. About 7.5 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc are planted, 14 hectares of Sémillon and 1.5 hectares of Muscadelle.

The property has 38 acres of vines, with an average age of 20 years, made up of two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Merlot. This wine is fermented and aged in both concrete vats and stainless steel.
