WINE INFORMATION
The Silva family pioneered grape-growing in the Colchagua Valley with the first vineyards back in 1892. Their cellar is the oldest one in the valley. Although they are a very traditional wine estate, they do not believe in relying on tradition to deliver award-winning wines. They strive to innovate in their vineyards and to find new terroir in the coastal areas and the foothills of the Andes. But they do all of that in the context of their valley, which continues to live a lifestyle that reflects the traditional values of Colchagua.
The climate is temperate Mediterranean. The influence of the Andes Mountains is felt through cool nights that result in daytime-nighttime temperature oscillations of up to 20ºC, which is ideal for fruit concentration in grapes. The opening between the mountain ranges creates a breeze that helps keep the temperature around the grape clusters uniform and ensures excellent health conditions. The average rainfall is also lower here than in the rest of the valley. Located on the northeastern border of the Colchagua Valley at the foot of the Andes Mountains, the Los Lingues vineyard has its own microclimate, which makes it a small sub-valley. The Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon planted here reach extremely high quality with unique character.
The Los Lingues Cabernet Sauvignon is farmed organically. Some of the vines are are ungrafted. Grapes were harvested block by block from March 15th to March 28th to achieve optimal ripeness. After a cold soak, the wine was fermented and 80% of the juice was aged in oak barrels for 10 to 12 months. The various blocks were blended, fined, filtered, and bottled.
