The wine exhibits a glass-coating opaque purple color. The nose is expressive with pain grille, underbrush, brier, minerality, blueberry and blackberry fruit. On the palate is a plush, opulent wine with great density, savory flavors, and a lengthy finish.
VINEYARDS
Clio is made from parcels of very old, very low-yield Monastrell (79 acres) and Cabernet Sauvignon (29 acres) vineyards located approximately 2,300 feet in elevation. Head-pruned bush vines are planted in poor rocky limestone and sand soils in a hot, dry climate that encourages optimal ripening of concentrated and complex berries.
