Pretty aromatics with medium to medium plus viscosity. Quite red fruited for a Cabernet with red cherry and red currant, plums and cranberries. It is medium in body with firm tannins and a long finish with hints of spice, herbs and tobacco leaves.
WINE INFORMATION
The winery’s name “Casarena” is a creative merging of the Spanish words “casa” (house) and “arena” (sand), and is a tribute to their restored 1930s winery made of sand-colored stone and the sandy soil that their estate is built on. Female winemaker Martina Geleano is leading the sustainability efforts at Casarena in the social and environmental front. Areyna wines are certified sustainable by the Bodegas de Argentina sustainability code.
Grapes for this wine come from 50-year old estate vines grown at 3,000 feet altitude. They are planted on alluvial gravel soils with sand, clay and large stones. The grapes are hand harvested, then fermented in concrete tanks with wild yeasts and aged in oak for three to six months.
