Tasting Notes

Medium to plus aromas with boysenberry, crushed rocks, black licorice and hints of cinnamon. Fruit and spice dance on the palate: the traditional garrigue blends in with wild strawberries, boysenberry, dried flowers and sandalwood. Medium body with soft tannins and a refreshing finish.

Kermit Lynch was born and raised in California. From his youth he remembers that his father and uncle worked for a winery, but he has no memory of anyone in his family drinking wine. The Lynch family was very religious, too, but at communion they served Welch's grape juice, even though, as Kermit points out, Jesus turned water into wine, not into grape juice. In 1972 he opened a retail wine shop and later began importing and distributing nationally. In 1998 he purchased the historic Domaine Les Pallières in Gigondas in partnership with his friends the Bruniers of Vieux Télégraphe. In addition, he also collaborates to produce wines under his own label, such as this wine.

The 2015 Languedoc Rouge was co-produced by Kermit Lynch and Jean?Claude Zabalia of Château des Deux Rocs. Zabalia's estate is located in Cabrières, where he focuses on high-elevation grape?growing on schist soils. His vineyards are some of the highest ever planted in the region.

Grapes for this blend are sourced from Jean-Claude’s vineyards in Cabrières and Terrasses du Larzac, both planted at elevaUons more than 1,000L above sea level on clay and schist soils. These sustainably-?farmed vines have an average age of 30 years old. The final wine is aged in a combinaUon of stainless steel tanks (70%), and oak (30%).
