Tasting Notes
This Riesling is just over medium weight with good fruit intensity of apples, peach, peach skin, apricot and lemon. There are light touches of petrol, wet stone and chamomile which are deftly intertwined with the fruit. The mouthfeel is roundish, giving the feeling of ripe acidity.

Now in the fourth generation, Paul Fuchs has taken over from his father, Henry. The 25-acre estate, spread over several vineyard locations around the town of Ribeauville, has been certified organic since 2008. The domaine owns a Grand Cru site near the town called Kirchberg, in particular the top of the vineyard where ripening occurs late due to higher elevation and cold winds coming down the valley. Vines are 45-50 years old and are planted on marly-chalky soil with some sandstone.  Yields are very low which concentrates the flavors.

Grapes are hand harvested, whole cluster pressed and fermented slowly using indigenous yeasts. The Fuchs family has a great respect for nature and their lands, therefore they seek equilibrium in the vineyards and have a non-interventionist approach in the cellar. They minimize the use of sulphur in order not to interfere with the purity of the wines.
