Fernão Pires and Arinto lead the way aromatically, offering notes of citrus, white nectarine, fennel and jasmine. Chardonnay provides subtle and creamy vanilla and toast. Medium weight and round in texture with perky acidity that gives the wine freshness. Jasmine and floral tones on the palate are braced by pink grapefruit, powered confection note on the lingering finish.
Bacalhôa is a family controlled operation with vineyards spanning through seven regions in Portugal, including 1,200 hectares of vines, and three wineries. The family’s wine roots date back to the 1920s. This wine is dedicated to Catherine of Braganza, Princess of Portugal and later the Queen of England (1662-1685). All three grapes were femented separately – Fernão Pires and Arinto in stainless steel, and Chardonnay in new French oak – before being blended together.
