WINE INFORMATION

Rutherford Wine Company is family-owned and managed with a portfolio of wines representing the rich diversity of California’s wine regions. Today, the portfolio includes Rutherford Ranch Winery (Napa Valley), Round Hill, Scott Family Estate, Lander-Jenkins Vineyards, Predator (Lodi), Rhiannon, Silver Buckle, as well as private label offerings.  The company is based at Rutherford Ranch Winery, in Napa Valley’s Rutherford District - one of the region’s most renowned sub-appellations.

The winery and estate vineyards are certified sustainable by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.  The company favors “ecologically far-sighted viticulture,” stating that though these efforts may be more labor-intensive than prevalent commercial winegrowing methods, they are rewarded in the quality of the fruit.

This wine pays homage to the family's Welsh roots. The Goddess Rhiannon is a figure of power and mystery in Celtic mythology, associated with magical birds and horses and the contrasting qualities of change and steadfastness.  The wine is aged in French oak.

TASTING NOTES

The nose offers aromas of mixed berries, dried but still bright and juicy. The palate is full and bold, with lush fruit, balanced by fresh acidity.  Coffee and cocoa flavors linger on the finish.

FOOD PAIRING

Pair this wine with roast chicken or grilled meats. Would be a nice match for barbeque, ribs or lamb.  Try it with tacos, too!  It would be good with spicy Mexican cuisine, or Asian flavors.
