Tasting Notes
The aromas of this classic Sancerre offer chalky minerals, lemon, white pepper, and a touch of fresh grass. On the palate the wine is zippy with fresh acidity and lemon peel, gooseberry, and grapefruit flavors.  Citrus notes linger on the refreshing finish.
 
The Lauverjats have grown and sold grapes is Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume for several generations. The current generation, husband and wife team Karine and Christian, started making wines from their fruit.  The soils in the region are well-drained and heterogeneous, clay limestone, gravel and silex (flint). The entire estate is comprised of 80 hectares with 12 in the Sancerre AOC.  The average vine age is 30 and sustainable vineyard practices are used.
 
This wine is vinified a low temperatures for between 15 and 20 days.The lees are circulated after fermentation and the wine remains on the lees in tank for about 3 months.
