A classic, dry version of Gewurztraminer with rose petals, lychee and other tropical notes, and candied ginger. The palate is complex, but not heavy with medium weight and a long finish. The palate delivers white pepper, rosewater, apricot and peaches and cream. This has great acidity which makes this a great value for this varietal.
WINE INFORMATION
The winegrowing region of Alto Adige is characterized by its striking mountains, rugged cliffs and high peaks. The vineyards are situated on impressive slopes and terraces at the foothills of these features and are often south facing with influences from the mountain winds and cool night air tempering warm daytime sunshine.
Erste & Neue, established in 1900, was first wine co-operative created in Kaltern, Alto Adige, now has some 500 growers contributing grapes from approximately 280 hectares of vineyards.
At Erste e Neue, the co-op vinifies 13 different grape varieties, including local grapes such as Gewurztraminer. With Gerhard Sanin as the Cellar Master, the winery combines established wine-making traditions with modern cellar technologies, a beautiful combination of the old and new worlds.
Grapes for this wine come from 15-year-old vines that are hand harvested from sandy clay soils, then fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks.
Erste+Neue has held the FAIR’N GREEN international seal for sustainable viticulture since 2018. The goals of FAIR’N GREEN include environmental protection, natural viticulture, promotion of biodiversity and the protection of natural resources. In addition, fair pay, social commitment and social responsibility are required.
