Tasting Notes

Attractive aromas of green and yellow pears, citrus and jasmine flowers. On the palate, this wine is medium weight and more refreshing than one would expect for a Rhone white blend. Stony mineral flavors as well as touches of florality nicely complement lemon-lime citrus and apricot notes.

WINE INFORMATION

The Cotes du Rhone Villages Laudun appellation, dating back to 1947, is in the heart of this winemaking region, on the right bank of the powerful Rhone River. These quality wines were already produced in Roman times, near Caesar's Camp, and the nearby plains were dotted with large agricultural domains. They were exported in Gaul via roads, rivers, and sea traffic. Over the centuries, the wine became one of the favorites of the French Kings, including Henry IV.

The Pélaquié family has cultivated vineyards and produced wine in the same place since the 16th century.  Luc Pélaquié continues the family tradition and adds a bit of modern wine making techniques as well.  Grown in sandy and clayish soils with Northern exposure, the vines for this wine are approximately 20 years old and are harvested manually.

The climate is Mediterranean, with little rain and a strong mistral wind. The grapes for this wine come from vines averaging about 20 years of aged planted in sandy and clayish slopes with northern exposure. They are hand-harvested and vinified separately. After pressing and must settling, the alcoholic fermentation takes place in thermo-regulated tanks with a low temperature control (17°C) during 4-5 weeks. Before the blending, the wine is aged on the lees for 3 to 4 months.
