WINE INFORMATION
The Valdobbiadene DOCG region is home to the vineyards of Borgoluce’s finest Prosecco. Owned by the Collaltos family, Borgoluce is born from the family’s thousand year legacy as owners and tenants of 3200 acres of land north of Venice. Today, the family is headed by the matriarch and her daughters—Giuliana, Ninni and Caterina Collalto. This woman-owned business uses the skills of winemaker Elisa Confortin.
One hundred sixty acres of farmland are dedicated to producing Borgoluce still and sparkling wines. The soils of their land are made up of clay with a high concentration of calcium carbonate. Grapes for this wine are grown on the hills of the Alta Marca Trevigiana, about 50-150 feet above sea level. The vines were planted between 2004 to 2008. Grapes are grown using biodynamic farming methods to protect the land and ensure sustainability for another thousand years.
Harvested in early September, whole grapes are soft pressed and then slowly fermented in stainless steel vats. The wine is aged on its fine lees for two months. This sparkling wine is made using the Prise de mousse charmat method.
