WINE INFORMATION

Robert Princic is the owner of Borghi Ad Est. A native of Collio, he is supported by his hard- working parents, Isidoro and Ivanka. Robert completed his studies at the School of Enology in Conegliano. Today, he continues to carry the lessons he learned as a boy into the vineyards and his winemaking practices, embodying a deep care and respect for the land. Robert, also the owner of Gradis’ciutta, launched his project of Borghi Ad Est in Friuli devoted to the production of a single grape, Pinot Grigio. Since 2013, Robert has served as the President of the Consorzio Collio, working to promote the region and its unique terroir worldwide.

Borghi Ad Est produces wines in Friuli Venezia Giulia, located in the North-Eastern corner of Italy near the city of Gorizia. Friuli is home to the hills of Collio, positioned to the west of Gorizia, through which the Isonzo River flows and converges with the Judrio creek further south in the Friulian plain. This area is appreciated not only for its wines, but also for fruit and olive oil.

Part of the success of this wine is the vineyard location which offers optimal conditions for grape ripening. The marl soil, its proximity to the sea, and protection from the Alps all help to deliver high quality PInot Grigio that receives excellent sunshine from the southern hillside. Within the DOC Friuli appellation, Borghi Ad Est sources grapes from Udine, Pordenone, and Gorizia.
