It’s quite aromatic, with brambly black fruit, spicy currant, and savory notes. This is not a big wine although it’s concentrated and intense, but not at all heavy. It offers supple blackberry and other dark fruits supported by moderate acidity and soft, non-intrusive tannins.
WINE INFORMATION
Yecla is a Spanish Denominación de Origen (DO) for wines located around the town of Yecla in the northernmost corner of the region of Murcia. Notable for its extensive use of the red varietal Monastrell, Yecla’s authorized red grape varieties also include Garnacha Tinta, Garnacha Tintorera, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Official DO status was acquired in 1975, but grape growing and wine production have been practiced in this area for over 2000 years.
Bodegas La Purisima is a cooperative with the reputation of an international wine producer, with wines being enjoyed in over 30 countries. They are a young, modern, up-to-date wine producer, led by a woman, María Teresa Ruiz González.
Bodegas La Purísima currently has 3325 Ha of vines, representing around 60% of the Yecla Denomination of Origin area. They have almost 100 Ha of ungrafted Monastrell vines, authentic vines which have grown on our land without being planted, bearing witness to the vines of our predecessors and providing us with authentic wines impregnated with the essence of the land.
Grapes for this wine are sourced from an organic vineyard located on the Murcia Plateau, at an altitude of between 500-900 meters. The vines are 30-year-old. The soils originated mainly from sediments of the Pliocene period (2000 million years ago). Grapes undergo cold maceration prior to fermentation. The wine is aged for 4 months in barrel before bottling.
