WINE INFORMATION
Weingut Jager is a 5th generation estate located in the hamlet of Weissenkirsch in the southern Wachau. It is a tiny, five-hectare estate comprised of some of the best vineyard sites in this appellation, including Klaus and Achleiten. The trellised vineyards run steeply along the Wachau, following her contours and turns.
The style of the wines is a perfect example of less is more. The wines are fermented in stainless steel, except in the rare vintage where they have enough to fill an old large oak barrel. They are transparent representations of some of the greatest terroirs of the Wachau.
Vorder Seiber is the newest vineyard for Weingut Jager. Due to its south-western exposure it has the typical Gföhler Gneis of the area but is also covered by a 2 meter deep layer of loess. The grapes are crushed and after the pressing ferment in stainless steel for three months.
