Aromas of red and black cherry, spice and cocoa. On the palate notes of blackberries, black pepper, cherry and plums are supported by the fine tannins. This medium-plus body wine is elegant with a silky texture.
WINE INFORMATION
This project began in 1999 as a partnership between two families: Argentina’s leading wine pioneer, Nicolas Catena, and Domaine Barons de Rothchild (which owns Chateau Lafite-Rothchild in Pauillac, Bordeaux, among other successful properties). Aruma was first produced in 2009, honoring Argentina’s signature grape, in celebration of the winery’s 10th anniversary.
Grapes come from fruit sourced from some of the best terroirs of Mendoza, and are hand harvested, then hand-sorted at the winery.
“Aruma” means “night” in the language of the Quechua, the native Indian population of the Mendoza region. The name suggests the deep darkness of the nights in the Andes and the very pure mountain air: the wines have the same rich, authentic character as their terroir.
Bodegas Caro’s historic property was actually built in the 1880’s, but was recently renovated by the partners.
