A light, clean citrus nose introduces this wine. It is medium plus in body and fruit forward, roundish but juicy. Orchard fruits, especially succulent pears and ripe apricots are joined by honeysuckle and vanilla, and balanced with fresh acidity.
WINE INFORMATION
The winemaker at Sans Liege, Curt Schalchlin, takes the tradition of Rhone Valley grapes and the freedoms of the New World to create this cuvee.
Each of the five grapes is sourced from different Central Coast vineyards. The Viognier comes from Bien Nacido and White Hawk vineyards, the Roussanne from Alta Colina and Santa Barbara Highlands. The Grenache Blanc comes from Alta Colina, Kopack, and Last Frontier while the Marsanne comes from Bien Nacido and the Clairette from Melange du Rhone. The goal is to choose sites which produce characterful fruit and to unite the resulting wines into a blend which is stronger than the parts.
